Kynoch bullets for Africa
I know the name of this forum almost dictates no factory ammo Smiler but out of interest has anyone here experience using the original Kynoch factory ammo or even reloaded ammo with the old Kynoch bullets on African game (not the new ammo with Woodleigh bullets)?

Supposedly the soft nose were a bit fragible and the solids deformed like many cup and cores can or do. Selby says he took to using solids for everything in his 416 Rigby as he found the soft nose in his day too soft, presumably these were the old Kynoch. What has been the experience of anyone else using it?

I have used some old Kynoch soft nose on buffalo many years ago but don't recall specific performance as was also using Norma and RWS solids in a bit of a haphazard fashion. The animals all fell over so was not concerned at that stage about what was doing what.

Eagle 27:

How very true!

I was at the time the proud, young but reckless owner of a Rigby 450 NE with probably the last batch of Kynoch ammo available on the East African market.

Needless to say probably 50% was dicey, meaning it would either hang-fire or not fire at all and the ones that did ignite all performed to the desired expectations.
