Conservation
In general, we know that the big "conservation" organizations are not our friends, nor it seems the friends of indigenous peoples. The link below is an article from Range magazine, an interesting publication I recently came across. This particular article is a general one but it happens to focus on Africa. I can't judge from personal experience the accuracy of this presentation, if any of you can, I would be interested in hearing your take.

Conservation is a great idea. Proper practice is often lacking, even if you disregard this article. Money and those who have it are the ultimate determinants of how things will work, and they will continue to drive our practice. Now, if it were only economical to find a balance between what is best for the land and what is best for people (both those with money, and those without), we'd be in business.
