Well, if Jim Shockey is endorsing it, it must be great!! (Insert roll eyes here)

I wonder if these organizations believe that celebrity endorsements make us choose their products?

I see them as sell-outs.

I am confused - do you get rebated the booking agent fee by booking directly ?

The best endorsements for outfitter and booking agents are AR members who spend hard earned after tax dollars on hunting.

Just to see what would happen, I typed in "Bongo." Looks like Texas is the place to go. Smiler

I looked through the Zimbabwe outfitters. John Sharp, Pro Safaris, and Brian Ellement are advertising there. There is one South African operator, Mangwa Safaris that sells hunts (sometimes on land he has no permission to enter) on AR from time to time. There is one other named Hunters Safaris Southern Africa of which I have never heard.

It was good to see John Sharp, Louis Mueller, and Brian Ellement representing the Zim guys. All in all better than I expected, at least for the Zimbabwe section.

It would be interesting to know how they vet their outfitters.....

They most likely vet their outfitters base on whether their check for advertising space bounces or not.

I wouldn't book anything with them until I saw a multitude of positive hunt reports on the Hunting Report, and other venues. There just isn't enough information on the outfitters that I have seen on there to make me trust them enough with my deposit money.

Booking in general - with "trusted" outfitters or agents - need to be thought through differently.

I just had a very troubling experience with a hunt in the Caprivi with a 'reputable' outfitter with whom I've booked before.

Economics in some areas appear to be driving some questionable behavior.

More on this later . . . .
