WillOT - for South Africans
I am not very worldly, and need help with the spelling of a girl's name. I finally have a grand kid coming and if a girl, I am going to campaign for the name that I came across while dove hunting one time in the middle of nowhere in SA (a small dairy farm).
One of this familiy's little girls was named Ragetta??? Pronounced like regatta except "ri-gheet-ta."
This of course could be a common Dutch name, and I apologize if it is.
Their two little daughters were the sweetest, and the family great hosts. I hope they are still well.
Any help with the correct spelling?

RikkieWill,
Rikita is one I've come across, but not very common. You're not thinking of Brigette (Bre-gee-ta)? Us Afrikaners have a penchant for mispronouncing English names / words!

Aspen Hill AdventuresOne of my best friends is South African. Her name is Marinda, which I always thought was a very pretty name. She is of Dutch descent.

kayakerI met a girl named Rigita, as you say, but that was just a friend/familty name given to her as short form of her actual name, which was Brigita (as in Bridget)...
