OLD MAN OF THE FOREST

One of the outfitters I work with in Cameroon sent me this photo from his new concession in the forest. This area has never been hunted before. This year they did a few exploratory hunts for bongo and shot some great trophies. He gets 3 ele tags a year. Apart from elephant, he also reported seeing a lot of forest buffalo. He is sold out for 2017. I will be at DSC and SCI if anyone wants to talk about these hunts. His rates are very reasonable.

Note: You cannot import ivory from Cameroon into the States. I think also into some countries in the EU.

Thanks for looking.

Just to know he exists is more than enough.

When I hunted CAR, I spent the night going out of the country in the "compound" of Erik Mararv's father. He had lots of photos of Forest Elephants taken in the "old days." The ivory of the pictured Elephant were representative of what he was showing us.

A quick look at the often maligned SCI record book will confirm what Cameroon and CAR have or more accurately, had.

Sad state of affairs things are. I spent 21 days walking through the Bakos and Savannah of CAR and saw one lone set of Elephant tracks. That one single set had the tracks of donkey mounted Sudanese Poachers in tow.

Maybe this area should be hunted very lightly.. This bull is incredible...

What a magnificent animal, dream bull, and despite them being about half the size of a savannah bull i would bet he should still be around 50-60 lbs?

Thanks for sharing!
