Heym 450/400Steve Jobs revenge. Sometimes apple just pisses me off. You can probably see it on your iphone because your memory recognizes the file. Can someone who doesn't already have the photo saved on their iPhone see the pic would be the question.

That is a cowboy from the US somewhere.

BuffHunter63I can view it, but have no clue. I will look in some of my books on elephant hunting. Tusks of that size should be documented somewhere.
He kind of resembles Chuck O'Conner of the Rifleman fame.

Did that. Only got a single instance on a random website. Frankly surprised.
The way his hat is curled reminds me of Klineburger, but not quite as bad ass.

PoyntmanInteresting,
I don't recall ever seeing this in other historic "Tusker" photos.
One of the last great tuskers from the Lado?
Kenya late 40's?
Hard to say....
You are looking, however, at a "top ten" recorded Tusker I think.
150-170"??
Estimates? No doubt it is a known animal...
30 September 2017, 04:18
CrazyhorseconsultingWould it be listed in Rowland & Ward???????
Even the rocks don't last forever.
30 September 2017, 04:24
PondoroIts not Truman Fowler, he hunted with Elmer in -69 or -70...and he used a Charles Lancaster sidelock in .577 NE....that rifle is a boxlock.
I have Tony Arinos book on big tuskers....cant recall that pic but will check when I get home..
30 September 2017, 06:35
CrazyhorseconsultingLane, where did you run across that picture?
Even the rocks don't last forever.

BaxterBOK, I think I have a lead. I think this elephant is at Elk Castle Shooting Sports in Fort Worth Texas. And I think this is it (note the mesodiplosis):
And these are the details:
The elephant’s tusks weighed 154 and 156 pounds, respectively, for a total of 310 pounds of ivory – the 7th largest elephant on record at the time.
Now, one of you Texans get on over there are get the "rest of the story."
30 September 2017, 06:42
RockdocWow! That is some ivory!
Good detecting.

CrazyhorseconsultingIt has been a while since I was in Elk Castle. I remember seeing the mount in there, before it was Elk Castle it was owned by Ewell Cross I believe.

Angle is not good...but the weight is right...anyone have a better angle? One of the truly great tuskers of our time

I have been to Elk Castle many times and never seen that ele. Elk Castle used to be called Ewell Cross Gun Shop in the late 70's when I first went.
Will go over and see if the same.
Randall,
You have surely been there.
