I finally got back into the country and found your new book waiting for me at home.
The first thing you notice is the quality of the book as a whole. The pictures are excellent. A nice, heavy paper is used. More than once I checked to see if I had turned two pages. It's nice to have a solid rather than flimsy hardback book.
I would say get all of Cal's books. The latest book is a PRIMER and as such is an excellent resource to bring folks into the double rifle fold. The book does an excellent job of instiling a foundational understanding of double rifles. There are terms such as fences, clips, lump, etc. that are not common to the general rifle world. Cal's primer does not make you a DR expert but it will make you "conversational" in DR speak. It also serves as an excellent reference and resource for DRs and associated goods.
His books on the 600 and the Bore rifles focus on those particular subsets of DRs.
Thank you for yet another excellent book Cal. Well worth the price charged. I look forward to your next endeavor.

PS I would really like to see an illustrated DR Encyclopaedia filled with pictures and simple descriptions of DRs from old to new.

I totally agree with everything you posted, the pictures alone required a lot of work to assemble, and get permission to use in the book. Cal's books required a very large amount of work that becomes evident when you feel the weight and open the book!
I'm going to order the Primmer as well!

MJinesI concur in the comments above. The book (The Double Rifle Primer) is well laid out, well illustrated and pulls together in one place a lot of information that is valuable for double rifle shooters and double rifle hunters. An excellent addition to any library collection, particularly for someone interested in getting into double rifles.
