How big is an average elephant taken in Dande??

ShumbaThe buffalo hunt doesn't sound too "special" since you could book directly with Big5 and save yourself $350.00 off the daily rate and pay the same $2500 trophy fee.

Don't get me wrong, it is a great hunt, in a great area, with a great PH. Also probably the nicest Safari Camp in Zim. Still, there is nothing special about the price being offered.
On second thought, maybe the $350 savings is compensation for having to hunt with a pain in the A__ PH like Ian Gibson.

500grainsShumba,
Are you certain that Big 5's daily rate is $450 per day for hunting buffalo? Most places are charging $900 per day for a buff hunt.

Widowmaker416The safari company I use gets $550.00 a day and $2,000.00 trophy fee on Buffalo.

Shumba500 grains,
Oops. I should have clarified that it is a TOTAL of $350 savings. Big5 is now charging $750 per day, so I calculated a $50 savings for 7 days for a total savings of $350. Not really an amount to worry about, but still lower than the "special" rate.
I hunted with Big5 last August and paid a $650 daily rate. I'm booked to hunt there next July and will be paying $750 daily rate.
Here is their website,
http://wickedhost.net/bigfive/Just click on the pricing schedule to see the $750 daily rate. When you can hunt at Big5 for $750 per day, I can't imagine paying more to hunt somewhere else for buffalo (this only applies to Zimbabwe).
By the way, Andrew Dawson at Chifuti Hunting Safaris (where Boddington filmed his Hunting the Cape Buffalo video) is charging $725 per day.

Bill CRegarding the buffalo hunt, not a killer deal, but I guess "special" is in the eye of the beholder. For example, HHK's price per their website is $900/day for 10-days:
http://www.hhksafaris.com/hunting/hunt-rates2a.html. John Sharp's is $850/day for 14-days:
http://www.john-sharp-safaris.com/huntrate.htm.
I consider any of these prices fair, and all are top-quality companies and PH's
IMHO. Too, it's Harder to find 7-8 day buffalo hunts these days. Whatever.
Awesome price on the trophy bull elephant hunt !!!
And in the same vein, trophy is in the eye of the beholder.
