8mm Rem Magnum
Guys,
Just curious, but in Safari Rifles (1980), Craig Boddington wrote along the lines that a suitable bullet for this cartridge for buffalo and lion didn't as yet exist. Has anything changed since then? I realise that it won't be legal in many countries but does a buffalo or lion worthy bullet exist for this cartridge in 2004?
Cheers...

Kyler HamannI've seen him shoot some awesome groups with XLC bullets in his 8mm. I can't imagine he'd recommend shooting a lion or buff with one but the X would hold together as well as anything else.

NitroXAustralian buffalo have been very successfully shot with the 8x68S and the RWS 196 grain FMJ.
Woodleigh makes a 250 gr RNSP which is rated for the velocity range of 1900 fps to 2700 fps.
I don't see why this bullet wouldn't be any less effective than a 250 gr bullet in a .318 or .333.

Terry BlauwkampI would not hesitate to shoot a Lion with that 200 gr XLC in the 8mm Mag. At close to 3,000 fps, it should turn a Lion end over end.

McCrayThere is the Swift A-Frame in 200 and 220 grain weights and the Barnes X in 220 grain. I think Boddington was wanting a 250 grain bullet but I don't know of any, at least in a premium, spitzer design.
I used the 220 X in Namibia on Gemsbock and Zebra, but had a 416 for anything bigger.
