TGDjrNovember
Where and what would you be hunting for in the month of November? I have usually stayed in state, but my wife has given me the go ahead for a thanksgiving hunt in the future. Need ideas! I am thinking Africa, but other destinations would be considered.
I know cats are better in the winter, and bull ele can be good in Nov in places, but looking for others' opinions.

crbutlerIf you have the pocketbook to pay for it, late november in Masailand would be hitting the ends of the short rains and the Buff and Wildebeest migration. The Missus would probably enjoy either the Serengeti or Tarangire park game viewing.
The lion follow the buff so they would be there also, and leopard are always smart, so that makes it no better or worse.
There are some good elephant there as well, but it is spendy for elephant.
Selous would be quite hot and I think they shut down there because of the rains at that point.
Zambia in early November was god-awful hot, but the game was really nicely concentrated along the Luangwa.
Zim was hot in October, I don't know what it would be like by November...
Really with the cats, its not so much they are hard to hunt, but rather that the bait goes bad so fast, in my experience...so you shoot a lot more bait, which can be hard to get in late season with the quotas shot out.

StonecreekThere is too much good hunting on the North American continent in November to blow it off by going south of the Equator to hunt the northern hemisphere equivalent of the month of May down there. Why don't you look at the southwestern U.S. for late season mule deer, elk, and whitetails?
But if you insist on going overseas to hunt in November, I'd look at Europe or Asia instead of Africa.

TGDjrI am not dismissing closer to home hunting. All the hunting I have ever done in November has been whitetail and mule deer when visiting family in Texas.
I finally got the okay to not be near family for one thanksgiving(not this upcoming one mind you), and am starting early research about where else in the wide world is good in November.
Are there any places or species that are absolutely at their best hunted during November?
Is there some hunt I should not pass up at this time frame?

joesterI work at a university so Thxgvng week is the ONLY one I can get away in the fall. I've hunted moose in Alberta & Newfoundland, hogs/exotics in Texas, mule deer in Montana...all great hunts. If you have the time & $ -- Hunt Africa! Do your homework and you will be a happy guy. Sorry I can't reccomend countries in November, I always go in July/August. Good luck!
