Nitro, I wouldn't doubt it... IMO, .416 (or .458) is about the most logical use for the overly large Ultra Mag case. Still, I doubt it really has anything over the excellent 416 Rem Mag.

The .416 RUM already exists today, in fact, it has been available for over a decade - it's called the .416 Dakota.

. . . or the .416 Rigby if you don't mind upping the pressure a bit.

After all, it would only be a .404 Jeffery with a rebated rim. Who would care? I guess that you could just buy one, open up the bolt face a touch and shoot the real thing. Dumb, Big Green, really dumb!

Up until about a year ago, I wouldn't have thought they would introduce a 416 RUM. Then they came out with a 7mm Ultra that eclipsed their own 7STW (as far as fps goes anyways).

So I'm not so sure they won't do it either this year or next. If they don't, Winchester might, either with a RUM-style case or a grown up WSM case.

I have a 416 Remington and am pretty happy with it, but a little more case capacity sure wouldn't hurt my feelings any.
