Ladies and Gentlemen,
Received this email from Louis at Afton Guest House:
There is a Gun case/firearm at the airport with that name Gemma Moore on it, but no other information. If we can trace the person we might be able to send it back to the person.
If anyone knows Gemma Moore, please have them contact -

sierrabravo45What type of guns are in the case? If there is a .470 or .500 Nitro in there, or other valueable or unvalueable guns, they still could be mine.

It is not a joke. I Googled "Gemma Moore" and got quite a few hits, it appears to be a woman's name and most frequently showed up on British websites.

Yes it is Africa, and that is why if you are staying at Afton Guest House on your way to your hunting destination, I recommend leaving Louie a copy of the photo of your luggage.
Because your luggage can disappear on your way to Harare, Windhoek, etc. or on your return flight home. If anyone can find it, Louie can.
When we arrived in Jo'burg last season, Louie met us while we were in line at Customs. He had two guys who already pulled our luggage, except one bag was missing. I gave a copy of the above photo to Louie and the guys found our missing bag by the time we cleared Customs.
Use brightly colored luggage tags (also note the red tape on the handle of my Tuffpak). I have recently replaced the grey Itinerary Tags with yellow ones. Those Itinerary Tags are available here

The photo is also good to have in case you file a missing luggage report with the airlines. You will need the brand name, color and dimensions. Also nice to have an inventory of each bag.

My guncase didn't make it home with me on my last trip to Africa. I filed with everybody involved, and called twice a day. No soap. On the third day I drove back to the airport and looked around. My guncase was sitting against the side of the big room with the baggage carousels, unclaimed, unguarded, not "in bond".
It had come in on a later flight and just shoved to the side by the other passengers.
The airlines folks would have actually had to get up off their fat ass and look around a corner to find it. It had my name, address, itinerary, and brightly colored straps on the outside.
My guncase has been lost once going to Africa, once coming back. Both times the fault was in Atlanta.
So it's not nearly as hard for me to believe this story.

Funny you should say that, my bags got lost for 6 days going to Africa, and it was the fault of Alanta!

KenscoJust a question about the problems in Atlanta. Did you check the bags in at Atlanta and they failed to get loaded, or did they not make a connecting flight coming/going?
I've been through in 2002 with no trouble. I'm going back through in June, and don't want any trouble.
