bwanamrmALF,
I must say you are the envy of everyone on this board who appreciates fine bolt rifles! I know many of these rifles have been in your posession quite awhile, but are gun laws in the RSA forcing many of your countrymen to sell their collections? Must be tough on those who have spent a lifetime accumulating them.

bwanamrmWhat a shame. I feel for those guys! Makes me want to re-up with the NRA for another 3 years or upgrade to Life Membership status.

Pete EAlf,
I was tied up yesterday evening but just wanted to say thanks for posting the pics...
I notice the majority of your rifles have the classic (Silvers?)hard rubber recoil pad...Is that just in keeping with the classic looks or do you feel they work better than the mordern ventilated recoil pads?
Regards,
Pete

Aspen Hill AdventuresNeato, ALF, Mausers are also my favorite. I have two sporters, one in good old 30-06 and the other in .375H&H. Both are lovely guns.

ChuckWagonI just love those fully stocked Mausers. Heck I love em all. I added several antique winchesters to my collection in the last few years from Australia. I think many would still rather sell then to a collector to preserve them from being turned into scrap. The world has gone nuts. Alf is personaly responsible for turning a project into a new category of collecting for me. Lucky for me the CFO is upset with him and not me

DonatoAlf, do you ever run into any of these Mausers in 404 cal at a good price and can they be bought and imported to the US? When I stoped in Joburg last June, I picked up a copy of Magnum and saw an ad for Classic Arms. They listed their classic 98 rifle as a semi custom rifle in calibers up to 500 Jeff. I was wondering if you knew anything about them? They come with a walnut or synthetic stock and do offer non standard calibers as an option.

DonatoAlf,
do you know if they make them in 404 cal. What is the price for them in US dollars and can they be imported to the US.

fla3006Brad Griffith recently had a 404 Type A double square bridge for sale on Gunsamerica for several months. It sold a few weeks ago, asking price was $6500.
