What did you buy at SCI?
I bought a dall sheep hunt, a Swarovski dS scope, a portable shooting bench, a super lite tripod for spotting scope and a device to help gut critters. I also got 2 new Satellite phones.

I am considering a few other things including some movable tripod stands.

Didn't make SCI, going to be at Dallas. Who had the movable tripods? Were they truly portable? I want to check them out if they are at Dallas.

South Texas Tripods and Feeders.

Were they truly movable? Well, I think it depends. The shorter ones definitely are movable. The 16’ version, I have to wonder. If the seat unit is taken off (which is easy) I think it is possible if one is reasonably in shape.

The bigger problem is shipping the 16’models. The shipping charges can be more than the cost of the stands due to some new requirements of the trucking companies.

Thanks for the info, I'll check them out. Shipping does seem like a problem unless they break all the way down?

I can not quote the exact issue with 100% certainty. I won’t try. It only impacted the 16’mmodels.

Not at SCI, but at the Denver ISE show I was able to reschedule my Kodiak blackmail hunt that I canceled last month due to the earthquake, and I booked a Newfoundland caribou and moose hunt for next September.

I firmed up final details for an upcoming hunt my son and I are doing later this year with Mike Fell in Maswa. Also, worked out a hunt with Alan Vincent for 2021 in Zimbabwe. Had a productive visit with the Trijicon folks about a scope for my son’s new .375 H&H he’ll be using this fall in Tanzania.

All in all, a good and productive show.

How much do you have to pay to get blackmail hunt?

I did not spend a great deal of money, but did buy a number of useful items. Havalon Knives has a new multi-tool that takes their replaceable blades. Also visited Barney's for some rain gear and a sleeping pad for the brown bear hunt this May. Picked up some very nice aluminum casting items that are made by Buzz Charlton's wife Steph. If Buzz can make the proper arrangements, my wife and I will be doing a his and her buff hunt next year. Also picked up some of Madeline Kay's bling for my bride. Mostly just spent time chatting with friends and acquaintances. I was nearly horse-collared by Andrew for a hunt in Zambia, but managed to escape! Perhaps in a year or two!

Ugh.. Too much :-)

Ordered a new personalized money clip from Clint Orms Silversmith. I love their bracelets and have thought about a money clip for awhile.

New pair of Courtney boots in Ostrich :-)

Entire set of KUIU gear - rain gear, pants, vest, gloves and gaiters. Ibex hunt coming up this winter :-). It’s the only time I can try everything on!

Pair of Kennetrek orthopedic mountain boots. They have a removable steel shank down each side of the boot over the ankle to the heel. Something I desperately need! I never knew that had them until I saw them in the booth.

An awesome 8’ diameter sculpted rug with two Cape buffalo on it and a sculpted runner with an Eland - very cool for my office!

A few excellent books, TAG safari shirts and wife bought some jewelry and a purse.

Yep.. way too much spending and then I almost booked a mid-Asian Ibex hunt and a Spain Ibex Grand Slam. Both of which will get booked shortly I imagine, I just don’t like to book at the show...

To top it all off, I now have an itch for Marco Polo but that dream may not come to pass.. :-(

It will be very interesting to see the traffic comparison between SCI and DSC this year.

No doubt it will tell the tale...

Sadly, I'm afraid the rudder of the SS SCI is locked in a single direction and turning it may not be possible...

I bought a flintlock rifle from KR Shelton and finalized an Uganda hunt with an old Army buddy.

Had a great time meeting some few other AR Members, notably Milan (Boarkiller) Andrew (Fairgame) and Larry Shores and his lovely wife.

Had a great dinner with a few AR members and friends.

I spent more than I normally do at SCI
