What to do with Giant Forest Hog?
Do people mount the head of a Giant Forest Hog? or do they do something else with them?

I had mine head mounted. I seldom do as most of mine are european mounts, but that would be an shame with that wonderful animal. I love mine.

Good hunting

A question of personal choice = most europeans go for a skull mount or remove the 4 tusks, for those who prefer otherwise, would go for a shoulder mount, much in the same way as one would for a warthog, bushpig or wild boar.
I would go for a shoulder as the Giant Forest Hog is not that common a 'grunter' to get as his cousins.

If I had the room only a life size would do it justice, JMO.

Try a "half mount" It is cut exactly in half length wise and you mount the half that is the least damaged. Looks like a fullmount sunk into a wall and costs half the price.

A half mount would cost just about the same as full or even more. The materal cost would be the same full form would have to be purchased the whole hide would have to be tanned etc.

That might be so.
I have a friend that did 3 Half mounts in SA and they look great. Depending on the taxidermist you use the price may vary. I have done a few mounts through Highveld Taxidermist here in SA and every time I come up with a new idea for a mount they actually did it at a price to only cover the cost if they could use it for a few months as advertisement. The same happened with my friend.

If the taxidermist charge you the full amount then I will have both halfs mounted and sell the half that I do not want toe help cover the costs.

Is there a demand for the arse end of a mount as well?

If the GFH was mine... skull with custom artificial tusk (skull is really interesting in these animals), natural tusk mounted AND a taxidermy mount (shoulder, pedestal or fullmount)whit another copy of the tusks.
And taxidermy work made from hight-end taxidermist, that make good tusks replicas, that know what means work whit BAD skins and alter manikins is a must, and that know what means use reference... really this point is essential. A giant forest hog is not simply a big wildboar...

NO!
There is no demand for the rear end of any mount.

This has taken a turn to the bizar. Half mt sell other half, highvelt doing work at cost, never offered me that kind of deal. Last time I was in their office not many mts. on display.
