The animal in your photo-If I am not mistaken it would have become a moose one day if allowed to grow up

As to the film, after lunch what were they doing. It looked as if they were marking a tombstone. Can anyone enlighten me?

I am sure the Spanish King wrote his signature and the date on the stone, to be cut in by a stonemason, as a memory of his visit. Such royal signatures in stone are not uncommon here in Sweden.

I know that may of you are interested in old hunting culture, even when it is not Africa, so here is a film from a royal Swedish moose hunt in 1928, featuring the King of Sweden, Gustav V, and his guest Spanish king Alfonso XIII.

Note the hat badge of most of the hunters, it is the badge of the Royal Hunting Club, still in existence. The present King hunts moose every year on the same land.

The film is made public by the Swedish National Archive of Recorded Sound and Moving Images - more information about this project is available on the website.

To see the film, just press the "Film" banner! No sound unfortunately.

Glad you like it! I think there is a certain resemblance between King Alfonso and Saeed...

I should add that I do neither mean the loading nor the caning...

Andr, if you want to bring a cane, you need a white shirt and a tie as well, but perhaps you always wear that when hunting moose...?

It was interesting to see the dog in the end, looks like a Hanoverian Hound.

If I ever hunt moose with you I will wear my tweed tree-piece shooting suit.
Normally I wear practical close

Great movie
I like the part where Alfonso pokes and hits the moose with his cane very "old School" I will bring a cane next time I go moose hunting and do the same, it looks very superior

Thanks for posting.

Cheers,

A very amusing film! It certainly looks like they were all chain-smokers!
