Apparently the supplier of this brochure is depending on getting just a couple hunts a year.

Imagine the profit margin

You wouldn't have to book many hunts at those prices.

I just received an unsolicited brochure in the mail from someone booking hunts around the world. The African section is.....I don't what to call it except "amazing".

#1) Big 4 hunt in Caprivi (Namibia) ---- 24 days @ $62,100 or roughly $2600/day. Trophy fees ---- lion ($7K)l leopard ($3K), elephant ($18K), buffalo ($2K), sable ($3K), roan ($4K), spotted hyaena ($1.3K), eland ($2K)

#2) Big 4 in the Selous --21 days @ $54,480 or roughly $2700/day. lion @ $2k, leopard the same, elephand $4K, buff only $600 dollars + 15% on trophy fees.

#3) Leopard & buff in Botswana ---18 days @ $30,600 or $1700/day. Trophy fees for leopard $6K and buff $4K.

Misc other leopard/buff hunts at $1400 to $1700 per day.

#4) Lion & buff at $2200 to $2600 per day for 21 days in various locales with lion TF of $3k to $5K and buff at $2K to $3K.

And not to forget North America!

Deer hunts from $800 to $2000 per day ---- $2K per day!

Moose--- 7 days at $12,500 + lic fees in Alaska
Caribou--5 days at $5800 in the Yukon

Dall Sheep ---8 to 10 days for$9K to $12K
Stone Sheep - 14 days at $16K to $22K
Desert Bighorn --- 10 days from $39K to $50K

Who are the people who book these hunts?

Please DONT laugh, there are some VIP CLIENTS out there whom will pay those prices without blinking .....

Have you heard that some [ super rich VIP clients ] can actually be offended if a hunt is offered to them tooooooo cheap, it works on some sort of reverse Psychology or similar !!!

All I can say is, keep taking the tablets and if [ the afliction ] does not clear up soon then just book another trip to Africa to alleviate the pain & suffering

And now you know why my recent lion and elephant hunt posts are such bargains. The NA prices they sent you are about right except that moose hunt is on the "cheap" side. The $2K a day deer hunts must be preserves with atomic racks.



One thing to remember (but I guess it is easy to blame the agent) is we don't make the pricing up. I sure don't. What my outfitters charge is what I advertise. Also affecting price are the people out there who will pay those prices. Apparently a lot of them too.

Well, they're certainly not cheap, but I guess it's their perogative to set their prices anyway they like. I can think of more than one company that charges those sort of prices and still has plenty of people queueing up to book with them.



Incidentally my price for a 21 day 1x1 safari in the Selous or Masailand (inclusive of charters, permits, licences dip & pack etc) is US$18980 less than that quoted above. If you want to split the hunt between the two areas then you just pay the additional charter fee.



2x1 prices are considerably better!! plug plug!!
