How Many Rifles into South Africa?

I have always thought 2 rifles and one shotgun were the limits for temporary inport.

My PH and Air2000 tell me I am allowed 3 rifles into RSA - but I have not verified this anywhere else.

Does anyone have input on this? A recent change in the law, etc?

I searched AR and all references, including the current SA Consulate site say 2 rifles.....

Although SA has no maximum, they will frown upon you if entering with a small arsenal. 3 should be OK.

Be sure to check with the airline, some of them have stricter restrictions and may only let you transport 2 rifles.
