CaracalTalk to Andrew (fairgame) or Thor (poacher458) here in the forum. Both are very good zambian phs.
Check the repords on the forum on Andrews new area!

fairgameI personally would recommend Munyamadzi which is a private unfenced property. Many of the so called prime operators in Zambia although have good numbers of buffalo tend to be taking soft or immature bulls.
If you are not to bothered by inches then you would do well to hunt here. The bushbuck and kudu are also first class. Bushpig are always difficult but are found in the area especially very early mornings.
The PH Thor Kirchner is extremely capable and the accommodation first class for the price.

CaracalAndrew, you took two superb buffalo this season in your area. Ok that's not luangwa but the buffs in your area have good genes as well as the sable!

fairgameCaracal,
The Luangwa valley is a magical place and Munyamadzi more so.
Enclosed is a photo of tracker Eliam portering out a good trophy down the rocky escarpment. Good hunt that.

FrostbitI've killed Buffalo with Johnny du Plooy (Muchinga Safaris) in the Luangwa. Top flite organization from beginning to end.
Haven't hunted Munyamadzi but have talked with Thor (poacher458) and he's a really nice guy with a very good hard working reputation and the report on the camp has it being remote and very confortable.
Lastly I have taken Buffalo (and a few other things) with Andrew Baldry (fairgame) in the Kafue. Also a very special place and an excellent PH with a unique sense of humor.
Cheers

dogcatAvoid Baobab Safaris/Nyampala Safaris at all costs. If the PH is Hartley Comrink, run the other way.

That's an understatement.

"...Africa. I love it, and there is no reason for me to explore why. She affects some people that way, and those who feel as I do need no explanation." from The Last Safari

BillsBillsBillsI just finished a hunt at Munyamadzi with Thor Kirchner. As pionted out by Andrew, it is a great place.I did not get a buffalo but it was not for lack of effort. We worked our buts off but had a horrible string of bad luck. We were into buffalo almost every day. This was the annual AR group hunt so we had other interests as well.
I found Thor to be very capable, hard working and patient. Very nice camp and staff. Lots of game in the reserve. I think you would enjoy it there.

leo toralballaTry Mike Heath
http://www.wildcatsafariszambia.com/He has an immense concession on the Luwangwa. No fences, no paved roads, just miles and miles of bloody Africa.
Well run camp, good vehicles and several fine ph's. A family run operation. I have hunted with him for something like twenty years. Never failed to get a buff. Also lots of cats and all the plains game you could want.

h kittleMy second safari and first for DG was in Zambia. One of our Ph's was Boetie Bothma and the other was Leslie Long. Boetie may not still be hunting. Boetie is one heck of a hunter, probably not the friendliest Ph I have ever been aroun but certainly a top notch hunter. If the PH is Leslie Long run the other may. We were hunting in a area call Muccugulla (sp). This area was least by Aamed and Usuaf Patel, again the spelling may not be correct. If these guys are involved in any way run don't walk.
I have friends that have hunted with Johnny DePlouy . he is top notich.
