No,Justin was not my cameraman.I heard he wanted to be on this trip but was sent to Dande instead.I had Ray as my camera man,a really nice fellow.I filmed this clip from inside the truck. As you can see I am not used to finding things with a camera or my binoculars.

MJinesI saw a beautiful sable in Makuti several years ago. The wind was with us and we were able to get within 40 yards of it. There is a clip of it at the beginning of the DVD Zambezi Extreme. It was shot the next season and went over 45". Sadly, there was no quota left on sable on my hunt but it was fun to stalk up on it in the wind.

shootawayI think I will go after one the next time around.I would enjoy hunting Makuti again.I really liked walking through those hills and even lost weight on this hunt. There were plenty of areas to hunt, some of which I was told had not been hunted.

No, Justin was over in Dande North with Buzz, my wife, and me. He captured some great video, but more important, he brought his unique blend of humor and quirky madness to our safari. Looking back, our hunt would have been seriously diminished without his presence. A great guy.
By the way, Mike, much of our trip became a travelogue of '
Mike Jines Moments', as in "there is where Mike got his leopard" and "that's where Mike got his hyena". We half expected a brass plaque over our bed saying "Mike Jines Slept Here". You mark your territory well!

MJinesHow are his Chuck Taylor sneakers holding up from the season? He wore those for the first time on our safari this year and we gave him a lot of grief over those sneakers. He would just smile and respond, "they're the way forward."

He's a good guy.

They were still like new when we caught up with him. Unfortunately, my elephant left large blood stains on his Chucks which remained until our return to Harare. At dinner that night he had them cleaned spotless.
