It's a great idea and one we tried a few years ago.... we offered an African Master Hunters Course that had some of the PH training syllabus and a lot of other stuff in it as well and it could easily have been adapted for youngsters and/or fathers and kids etc.
The problem was in getting everyone to come on the same dates. There was always some bugger wanted to come a day late or leave a day early etc and in the end, it was that that killed the idea.
We've still got all the syllabus etc on the computer (I think) and would be happy to do something like that BUT only if a group could all get together and agree dates between them.
We'd need something like 6 or 8 students minimum and could do it in either RSA or Botswana. In some ways, Bots would be a better option.
I was think on my estate in the Luangwa valley?

I still don't see the reasoning behind this...WE...me and my cousins and friends...played cowboys & indians or cops & robbers...shooting at each other with toy guns at least until we were teenagers.
Lane,
I think you made his point!

Sounds like a fantastic place to do it and a part of Africa I've yet to see....... but whether or not the demand is there I don't know.....
Might be worth discussing though.

I would think there was something wrong with my kid if he didn't do that.
But...heck...I am a dumb Texan just like GWB...what the heck do I know.

sandyhunterAndrew and Steve, I would have loved a camp like that as a child. I don't know that it would work for every kid, and the scheduling issues might be difficult, but perhaps you could get around those challenges by requiring a written application and donating some or all of the cost of the program. When you're donating something instead of selling it, you can be more directly selective in choosing who can participate. Also, people tend to make their own schedules fit a set time when they're getting something for free or at a discount. Of course, that's easy for me to say when I'm not the one donating the time or the use of my private concession.

sandyhunterLane, I'm guessing that kids these days don't play cowboys and Indians. They probably play evil imperialists and oppressed native Americans. And instead of cops and robbers, they're playing authoritarian thugs and victims of society. Those don't roll off the tongue like the originals, do they?
