Brno bolt rifle in .458 WM
I saw one of these on the weekend at a gun show. The price was actually pretty good. However, I noticed that the safety is quite different, in that you push it forward for safe (at which time it also locks the bolt), and pull it back to fire.

This is completely opposite from any other rifle I've seen. Not the sort of confounding situation I'd want in a DGR.

I thought that Brno and CZ were manufactured by the same company. Is the CZ like this as well, or am I mistaken on their relationship?

Fischer,

BRNO used to have this design on the 600 family of rifles.

I disliked the one on my M602 .375 H&H so much that I had it replaced with a conversion to the Win M70 style safety. You can get a kit from Brownell's, but it requires a gunsmith to fit.

CZ is the manufacturer, BRNO is the city where the plant is located. That is a good, strong, controlled feed rifle.

There are a half a dozen saftey configurations for that model. How much did they want for it?

The guy was asking $775 Cdn. It was apparently new.

Brno 600 series rifles are great rifles, especially for the money. One way to get used to the backwards safety is to think of the old hammer guns which required you to pull the hammer back in order to fire.

Don't even try to get used to the backassward ZKK 602 safety on the older BRNO. It will mess you up with the rest of the world of rifle and shotgun safeties.

Replace the safety and tune the trigger and you have a great rifle.
