Could you have done it?

Nickudu has posted Man Eaters of Tsavo in the forum below. Do yourself a favor and read it if you haven't already, then get your trusty ole .303 and go hunting for man-eaters at night.
Its a great read from a great era. Just looking at the map of Africa at the end is a rush.

Also read accounts of people like Finaughty who, in the 1800's would go after cattle-killing lions by sitting up over a kill. They had carbide lamps and blackpowder rifles. When they heard the lion(s) feeding they would open the shutters of the lamp and shoot. Of course, the carbide lamp gave little light and with the blackpowder there would just be smoke--all with lions going crazy all about.

There is nothing wrong with the 303 Brit.

I would also have used this caliber if it was the rifle I was familiar with. Why???

When you are shooting at night you would be doing a lot of things instinctively.

I would just as soon have my old pre-64 mod 94 30-30 as a "bloody .303". But better yet my '95 .405 Win.
