DB BillRe: Make Fun of Ray Party
Is there going to be a dress code? Plus-fours? Spats? A "seed" cap?
For the menu let me suggest something soft and easy to digest and maybe warm goat's milk.

JudgeGRay is moaning about semi-retirement, but admits his plans to be in Dallas this January to see his old friends and sell a few hunts... so..
I have again reserved a suite at the Marriott Suites at the Mart (which is 1/4 mile from the convention). We plan to have the second anal (or is that annual) Make Fun of Ray Cocktail Party and 100th Birthday Celebration. Party starts at 6:00 p.m. on the 7th of January and ends sometime Saturday night. Those interested can also visit the Dallas Safari Club show not far away.
Start making plans now. Harry (Mims) is getting his only TuffPac ready, Pierr'e is practicing obscure African languages for the taxi drivers, 1115 has bought a new set of ear muffs (he'll be sharing the room), Santana (or is that Santala??) will practice his astonished-what-the-hell-is-going-on grin and all attendees will all stand, face the east and lifting their drinks upward toast our host, Saeed... then turn 180 degrees, bend over, drop trou and salute Walter.
Entry fee is a few lies, maybe a bottle of good single malt or Pink Gin fixings, some mixed nuts, a bib and diapers for Ray or a Holland & Holland .450 Nitro Express, Royal Grade.

Isn't that a year long festival?

Rich ElliottMaybe I can bum a ride over with him again this year. On second thought, it would be much safer to take a taxi.
I don't remember how I got back to the Renaissance last year

RustyI'm there! Judge do I need to bring a case of beer or Depends?

For all of y'all who missed the Judge's party at DSC last year, I don't think I have ever seen a group of folks laugh so hard. A wonderful oportunity to visit and share good times.

Mickey1What are the dates of DSC?

I can just imagine what sort of party it is going to be.....

1115Ray,
Since I am sharing the room (and the expenses) I feel it only fair to remind those planning to metaphorically assasinate you that the gentleman pictured here (JudgeG) is the one planning this entire event. As usual I got roped into it.

8MM OR MOREJudgeG, I heard that Ray has at least one more hunt, in which he plans to explore the "Bakes" method of "buff" hunting. While I am not waiting for the pix, a written account of the outcome might make for good reading, eh?
Meant in good fun only. You gents take care, have a good one.

<mikeh416Rigby>Aw shucks Ray, I'm just funnin' ya.

JudgeGDang, Saeed:
Ray is sitting on the toilet seat that I had last year in my tent at LU1. Did Pierr'e tote that thing all the way to your camp in LU2?
As I remember, it was very comfortable for "doing your business" and reading late at night. It gave a whole new meaning to "ensuite" facilities.
Come to think of it, Pierr'e said he was going to store your Tabasco in the brain pan! Hope you enjoyed my contribution to the hot sauce.

MinkmanLadies & Gentlemen,
Could someone please tell me where is a nice(not the world's best), and closest hotel between the show and the party? I really think I need to attend to help me plan my hunt.
Thanks for the help,
Jerry

JudgeGTry:
Marriott Suite at the Mart I believe the rate is &89 (without breakfast buffet). Last year I used Kathi (who posts here) to get reservations, plane tickets, etc. and she arranged everything. The hotel is about five minutes walk, but they have a free shuttle, too.
The Renaissance Hotel is the right on campus with the Mart. It is "nicer" and more expensive, but actually shares the same parking lot with the "show" building. If you stay there, I believe that Dallas Safari Club has blocked a bunch of rooms and if you so ask, you can get a room for much less than the regular rate (albeit, not a suite for a party, though).
Actually, the Marriott Suites thinks Ray is an over-the-hill Rock Star and doesn't mind him trashing a room or two... leaving Depends around.... scuffing up the floor with his walker....wetting the bed... you know.... stuff like that.

M1TankerI was just about to go to bed bed that image would haunt me all night long. That image is the whole reason my kids think there are monsters in their closet.

AtkinsonSaeed has Walter, whom he sicks on me in Africa, so I run like hell back to the states where I,m supposed to be safe from harm and witch doctors that put evil spells on one or take them off as the case may require, then low and behold up pops Judge G in his uniform, and now I have my own personal USA version of Walter, a literal twin so to speak, I really don't think I can survive this...I'm selling my guns, quitting hunting, and tell your children not to look under the bed, thats where I now live...As to that damn party I will probably attend, but I shall be armed to the teeth and shoot anyone that comes within kissing distance.
05 September 2004, 05:29
<mikeh416Rigby>JudgeG, if you're hosting a Make Fun Of Ray Party, you're going to need 3 or 4 adjoining suites to handle the crowd.

HarryRich,
I know how you got back to your hotel after the party....you fit right into the Tuffpak in Judge G's room and we wheeled you home in style! You have heard the term. "We poured you in"...
After seeing those pictures of Walter and Ray I now look under my bed and check my closet before going to bed at night. Not a pretty sight!

That is wrong on so many levels. After an experience like that it is no wonder Ray was so willing to come back and sell off his guns in order to distance himself from that crowd as much as possible. Has anyone referred Ray to a good psychiatrist after that ordeal?
