MJinesSeptember Hunt in the Selous
Going on my second safari to Africa in September. First trip was to South Africa. This year headed to Tanzania (Selous) to hunt buffalo and crocodile. For those that have been to Tanzania and the Selous before, what time of year is the best time to hunt buffalo in the Selous? How does September rank? Also, any views on the best areas to hunt in the Selous. The outfitter I am hunting with hunts in blocks U3, MA1 and LU4. These blocks all appear to be located roughly in the center of the Selous. Thanks in advance for your help.

Wendell ReichMike, in my opinion, you could not pick a better month than September.
Have a good hunt.

T.CarrMike,
September should be a good month for the Selous. Unless they have had an unusually wet season, the grass should be burned off by September. Makes game spotting and tracking easier.
Since those blocks you mentioned are controlled and hunted by one outfitter, you should have good game populations. It's the blocks that are subleased to suitcase PHs that sometimes present a problem with too much hunting pressure and poor game populations.

Terry
