Cost of a Zim safari
Friend and I have a price on a Zimbabwe safari. It is 14 days, for leopard, hippo and croc.
Price is $47,500 for daily plus trophy fees.
Does that seem about right?

Thanks

Is this for 2 14 day leopard/hippo/croc safaris, seems like a good deal for that.

If it is a 2x1 shared quota, seems a bit high.

It also matters how high the trophy fees are.

Also make sure you look in to charters or road transfer and dip and pack.

df06,

I picked the highest Zim trophy fees I have and the leopard, hippo, croc added together come to $17,000. That leaves $30,500 for daily fees. Seems quite high to me. Are you sure this price is not all inclusive from airport to airport? Even at that it would be pretty spendy.

Is this a joke or what? Half of that would be way too high.

He said that is the daily rate, plus trophy fees, not all in. I'm assuming that's a 2 on 1 and includes both hunters? If so, it's around $1,800 a day daily rate.

Throw in a lion, elephant, black and white rhino, and a unicorn or two and the price is fine.

Seriously, it is way too high. Who is the outfitter? We need to know so none of us book with him.

On a 2 on one, that's $3600 a day. That's high for Tanzania.

Don't forget that there is a good chance that you may not shoot one, regardless of what the outfitter tells you.

I was advertising a Leopard safari in the Kafue for a mate of mine Adam Buske recently for $1,000 a day. Leopard $6,000, Hippo $2,500 and Croc $2,500.

Seems like these safaris are always more expensive than you anticipate, especially with all the micellaneous "add-ons".

Please tell us the name of the operator who gave you that quote.

Transparency is so critical.

I have seen a few post started by outfitter where they try to keep pushing up prices - despite the high US$ and amazing exchange rates as well as low oil prices!

Fairgame's quote is so transparent! Well done Andrew!

Why not post the name of the company for transparity? This is like posting a hunting report without actually posting the details?

What's the point??

Perhaps he meant "including trophy fees". I would make sure I understood the deal before I signed anything.

I understand about $1000.00 bucks a day is typical for the daily rate (a little more or less depending on the area) for DG hunts, with 10, 14, and 21 day minimums for some of the more exotic DG and trophy fees seem to vary quite a lot depending upon where you are hunting.
