Where the hell is the elephant's earhole?
Everything you read mentions the earhole as a reference. . . Bell, Boddington, Harland, Robertson, etc.
I think I know where it is, cause I think I can see it, but I'm just not sure. So could somebody paint a dot on that elephant's earhole for this dreamer?
Thanks

Actually a very good question. Look at where the ear attaches to the skull. You will see a dark line. This is the ear slit. About 1/3 of the way up from the bottom of the slit is where the ear hole can be seen if you look into the slit. Some call that the ear hole. The ear canal then runs forward and slightly down to the ear hole that goes through the skull bone. It isn't visible from the out side but it is located approximately two inches in front of the ear slit and roughly 1/3 up the slit. I think different people will mean different locations for the ear hole depending on which they are talking about. Ron Thompson in his book Mahohboh shows the ear hole through the skull.

Buy my book! I explain it there.
Like anything else the brain sits between the ear holes in the skull but the external ear hole slit as seen when looking at an elephant is, as 465 H&H related, above the ear hole in the skull. Sort of tricky. The lateral center of the brain is somewhat forward of the ear hole in the skull (ear canal as more properly called by 465 H&H) which is why you shoot in front of the ear slit and not into it as some advise.
Red line: Ear hole slit as seen on the elephant.
Black: Approximate size of the brain.
White dot: ear canal.
