They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and I am posting these photos (Lynne Taylor's) as a follow up to Cajun's thread on the Tashinga Initiative, to illustrate the work this worthwhile organization is engaged in. It is remarkable what they have achieved in such a short time, and their good work is ongoing. Their main objective is to boost morale amongst Parks rangers on the ground, and from what I have personally seen there is no doubt they are achieving this. What could possibly be more important? The bottom line is that the fate of our wildlife is in the hands of those rangers on the ground. 'The Tashinga Initiative Foundation 501c3 provides support to Parks and Wildlife Management field operations in Safari Areas and National Parks in the Zambezi Valley of Zimbabwe. This area of operation includes two World Heritage sites, UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and the Zimbabwean part of KAZA (Kavango-Zambezi) and Lower Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Areas.'

Current projects funded by EU, Conservation Zambezi UK, stakeholder and private donors are:
• Provision of solar powered water pumping systems
• Provision of solar power for lighting, charging of radio communictions systems, batteries, cellphones, computers and VSAT.
• Provision to Rangers of specialist training in antipoaching, tracking and bush survival.
• Refurbishment of infrastructure
• Schooling textbooks and materials for Ranger children

True enough, in these modern times... But isn't it amazing what a bit of charity in the right hands can bring about? In the hands of someone with faith and hope and determination? Like, for example, Mrs Lynne Taylor.

I never donate anything to any cause, because I simply don't have any money remaining at the end of each month. But I am determined to save a little and donate something to the Tashinga Initiative soon. Why? Because with all the negativity coming out of Zim, here is something positive, something that is working, and the proof is in the pudding. I have absolutely no doubt that certain wildlife areas in this country would be in a very different state were it not for the efforts of the Tashinga Initiative.

This looks wonderful. I'll pony up a bit. Being directed to the Zambezi Valley, a place I've learned to love, makes it quite sweet.

Brilliant ideas and implementation - lets hope Nat Parks can upkeep the standard and "kit"!!
