Trophy shipment question
Due to Delta's new trophy shipping policy my shipment was sent on EL Al and has been sitting in New York at JFK since Monday supposedly waiting for Customs to check the paperwork before it can be sent on to Coppersmith in Dallas.
Two years ago my stuff was shipped on Delta and it landed in Atlanta and was sent on to Dallas the next day.
Has anyone had any experience with the amount of time it takes customs at JFK to get the paperwork approved?

OngweMy one and only time with trophies through JFK, it took WEEKS to get processed and then on to Dallas.
Even landing in DFW, I've had stuff sit for a week or more before it got trucked out to my taxidermist.
So don't panic yet...it's the government, nobody moves quickly!
I was afraid that is what I was going to be told after some of the things you hear about JFK. Maybe someone else has had a better experience.

Safari2Fauna and Flora has handled all of my shipments thru JFK which is 4 in total going back to 1990.
If your shipment is to clear customs there I would recommend them.
My understanding is that my shipment will clear Customs in Dallas. Customs at JFK will just make sure the paperwork for the shipment is correct before it is sent on to Dallas.

Tim FerrallMy stuff from the 2012 Zim safari hit JFK just before Hurricane Sandy. It sat in a warehouse for a week. Rosella Quartarone from Safari Specialty Importers shepherded it through 4 different inspections, told Customs that her customer should not have to pay impound fees for 6 days due to a hurricane, then made sure that everything got shipped to the taxidermist in Michigan. In short, she saved me more money than she charged me. Robert and Rosella are good folk, and good at what they do.
