I haven't been to Namibia since 2007, but back then I didn't need a visa.

It's been some time since I was in Namibia as well. As I recall, it used to be you filled out a short form and got your tourist visa on arrival in Windhoek but maybe things have changed...

I’ve only hunted Namibia twice and am returning next year. What Saeed posted is the way I believe it’s always been. You pay for the visa as you deplane in Namibia once you enter the first building where they check your passport. I see the USA is still on the list Saeed posted as it has always been. I think I’ve always paid about $50 for the visa if my memory is correct. Namibia is the easiest country to enter that I’ve hunted in Africa; fast, efficient and no hassles. Wish the rest of Africa was as easy!

.

Was there this year - fill out a form at arrivals and hand it and passport in at desk. Stamp in passport and all good.

Pretty much same thing with weapons - fill out form at police guns desk and get a visitors cert.

Both easy.

It is something they are trying to start for this year. I think it was based on if the country your coming from make someone from namibia get a visa you will need to now. I think it was trying to be stopped from happening but I have not read anything more on it in month. I was there is aug and did not need it but it maybe needed in 2025

Contrary to belief, some African countries in the Third World are quite advanced and can be quite expeditious in processing such matters.

Well, trying to get a visa through the official government website of Tanzania is an exercise in futility!

We have to go through a “visa processing company” which does it.

The answer I got was they make you go round in circles.

The visa processing company charges you and seem to solve that problem.

Saeed is correct. Look at his prior post and read the list of countries. Those from the United States do not need a visa, unless you are going there to work, religious proselyting, etc. etc.

My last trip to Namibia they suggested in the future to speed up my entry would be to have the visa pre approved ahead of time.

The visa line went out the door to the airport lobby. then you needed to find the correct visa form to your left as you entered the room. Now find the shortest line to stand in.

Plus, after my visa I needed to go to the permit and firearm inspection room. gun checked and ammo was checked. the woman working the room counted my ammo and I pointed out the box indicating 20 rounds in the box and that matched what she counted. so that part was helpful for the other box of ammo.

also she provided me an web address to obtain reapproved permit for my next visit.

firearmairport@nampol.na

she indicated that this would speed up the process. as you could print off copies of your permit.

The firearm area was old school, log book with carbon paper and a pen. of which she did not have any carbon paper or pen. we found the carbon paper at the airline counter and I had a pen to use. so I am thinking do this in the future is a good move.

All told, I was the second to last to enter the baggage area to collect my bag and walk out to meet my PH.

What I learned is to find ways to speed up moving through entry and doing the visa and firearm permit ahead of time would help.

Saeed,

the only place that I have had the PH to take care of this before hand is when I went to Tanzania. However I still had to stand around for the serial number of my rifle and ammunition to be checked.

I use Gracy travel for all my permits to South Africa. it makes it easy as can be, best money spent when you ask my wife.

For Zimbabwe, I have my firearms permit fill out before land and do the visa on arrival.

And when going to Namibia, I have my visa application filled out before I land and have had to do my firearm permit after clearing customs.
