cameronaussieRemoval Of Animals Hunted Out Of RSA
Dear Guy's
Is there any paper work required to remove non cites animals out of South Africa?
To take out of the country skull and horn's, pig tusks and skull.
Do the items need to be declared prior to leaving with them as luggage on the plane.
No skin's.
Regards
Cameron

leopards valley safarisYou can do it but it wont be legal. So dont get caught.
The skulls, horns, tusks skins need to be be boiled and bleached or treated then need to get a state vet to check them and give his stamp of approval in the shape of a piece of paper This needs to be submited with your pro hunters paperwork with the outfitters signature on it,before you can get an export permit issued. This normally takes 2-6 weeks.
Its best just to use an accredited Dip an Pack taxidermy/outfit.
So no its unfortunately not gonna happen legally. It can only leave the country without paperwork (warthog tusks) if it is a processed product. boiled out key ring etc with an invoice from a trinket shop etc.
sorry

WinkWhile it is certainly illegal to export them, it is most probably also illegal to import them into the destination country. It's always messy to not only lose them at customs clearance but also face hefty fines and/or criminal prosecution.
