Affairs on Safari - Hollywood or reality?
Not hardly, but those are some pretty serious allegations and I didn't say whether it was credible or not, and for all I know, they may be accurate, but if you didn't see the post for what it was, you missed the intent of my post.

Regarding your {sic} first hand accounts, first hand indicates you were present. Same issues apply, if you have something to say, say it.

To do otherwise behind the safe haven of a computer screen is just not right, but then again some of us live by a different code of ethics. jorge

I guess I missed the intent of your post. It seemed to me that you were pretty quick to "kill the messenger" and immediately dismiss his post. And yes, I am aware what 1st hand means. Nuff said.

come on guys if you dont trust your wives to be faithfull then why the hell are you with them

i say if you cant trust them on a trip to africa maybe its time for a divorce.

....if the ph was hitting on my wife he would get 1 warning the next time it happens they will never find the body.

I have always wondered about this aspect. I mean, what PH would have enough balls to bed a guy's wife then let the guy follow him through thr bush with a loaded rifle? We know Macomber was fiction but I have to wonder about Allen, maybe there was a bit of fiction there?

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

Just can't believe this thread has taken on such a life of its own! From a strictly personalstand point My wife would leave me if I tried to go without her - she loves Africa as much as me. As for the other concerns... I feel the same as others have said - if she's inclined to fool around, she'll do it no matter where she is. If you're THAT threatened maybe you'd better take her along so you can keep an eye on her. You'll never know trophies she's collecting if left at home! cheers

Dont confuse politeness with weakness!

The point is that if you can figure out who im talking about then fine if you cant I have not flamed his ass on third hand information I clearly stated that the tale was told me by the people it happend to and I realy had no reason to doubt them I did not know the ph by name or reputation at the time but wanted to avoid him in the future so I wrote his name down when I ran across his reputation here I recognised his name and still did not know who he was then I saw him at a show hawking vidieos of him doing clearly dangerous simi retarded stunts with dg and finaly put 2and 2 together I had met him on several ocasions and thougroghly dislike him because of a cavaleer atitude and disdane for the "weak" and the whole let the buff pick his own path/death b.s. and yes I do know his name, face and reputation.

gentlemen I dont know you and more clearly you dont know me. how you come to your opinions is your buisness. I disagree with your asertion that I am a grenade throwing troll.I do not want to start some 12yr old internet he said he said bs with you or anyone.

If you jet jockys get all football hero jacked up on testoterone and think this ph is a great guy and a mans man worthy of all praise thats your buisness. I just disagree and have seen nothing to change my mind.If your overwrought feelings on everything out in the open or not mentioned at all is your way fine with me just leave me out of it.

In closeing if I have said anything to upset you I do humbly apologise

Where I come from you don't make a move on your friends sister, your best friend girlfried or wife. The same goes for a clients wife or girlfriend. If a ph makes a move on a clients wife he does not respect his client nor himself.

We have a saying in SA: " You do not sh@t on your own front porch"

If you want to blow your reputation, make a move on a client's wife.

Crusher: I never said, nor do I now, that I disagree with your views and for the record, I don't subscribe to Sullivan's modus operandi either.

My only beef with your post is the way you postulated your thought. You made it so obvious you were speaking about Sullivan but yet in leaving his name off you came off limp-wristed.

As to both your statements quoted above, I'm afraid I am guilty on both counts. Apologies not required. jorge

Here we say that "you don't eat meat where you earn your bread"... and I agree in that's the easiest way of blowing a PH's reputation, no matter how good he is or how successfull.

Better keep things separated: you're out in the bush to achieve specific goals and messing around with your client's wife/GF is not one of them.

Thank god my PH and his partner didn't have any daughters around. They were both 6'5 and 250, and I would never consider myself small at 5'11 and 235.

Saw some real lookers in Windhoek at the hospital.

In Argentina you have the opposite problem. The guides would send most wives running for the hills, and it is the husbands that the women have to worry about since the ratio of good looking to ugly women is far better than anywhere else I have travelled.
