If you have not booked a safari for '07 yet perhaps you should consider these 2 alternatives in Tanzania.

In Mahenge North we can offer buffalo hunts starting at $6000 4x2 for 7 days to include everything except trophy fees, tips and hotels as necessary in Dar Es Salaam. There are no extras. The drive from Dar to Mahenge and back is even part of the package. The best part is that unlike a lot of inexpensive Tanzanian buffalo hunts each hunter has a full 7 day license allowing him or her 2 buffalo plus plains game. You also have camp and area exclusivity for the duration of your hunt regardless if your party is one or four hunters.

This area also is very good for leopard as it gave up 2 beautiful cats in 7 days for our last 2 clients of the season as well as 4 buffalo and 17 other animals. Heck of a bag for a week's hunting. A 21 day license with 16 days of hunting allowing everything but only one cat can be had here for $29,950 which is a great deal by Tanzanian standards. This is the least expensive lion hunt we offer anywhere.

LU5 is our area in the Selous and here the buffalo hunts start at $11950 2x1 for 10 days. The hunt once again includes everything except trophy fees, tips and hotels but a charter is recommended. The camp is situated on a big river with crocs, hippo and various other game visible from camp at anytime. This is a great camp for an observer. Also the notorious Selous grass is not such a factor here allowing successful safaris even in July. In fact even this last season with the incredible grass we had a group in LU5 that took over 40 animals in 16 days during July.

For anyone interested in a full bag Selous safari LU5 can produce good cats, buffalo and elepahant on the same safari.
