Nitro ExpressRe: I need a taxidermist for a leopard
Here is another endorsement for Darrell McMicken. He is an excellent taxidermist and very reasonable on price. He did all my son's and my animals from our safari to Zimbabwe, including Cape buffalo and sable. He has also done Texas whitetail and Scottish hill stags for me. I would be glad to email you some photos.
You are close enough to visit his studio in Cartersville--it will be worth the trip.
Don't make a decision until you have talked to Darrell and seen his work.

NONEIIRon L,
I can not comment as to the price of shipping ETC..but I can as to the best IMO place to bring the mount to be done. McMicken taxidermy in Cartersville GA. They specialize in African species and have some of the most incredible mounts and some of the best settings and different mounts I have seen. I assure you I would not recommend something as important as a taxidermist without being confident of there work. They also have a full showroom full of African mounts I belive once seeing their work you will be impressed.
I am lucky that they are very close to my house. PM me if you like and I would happy to meet you if you decided to come down and check them out and have lunch and talk Africa hunting for a bit.
The rates listed in there flyer are 600.00 for shoulder and 1900-2700 dependant on setting and pose for full size they have some very life like scenery mounts you would not belive for the upper end prices.

Ron LMy taxidermist is going out of business. I have 2 questions.
I live in western North Carolina near Asheville. I need recommendation for a taxidermist that does a good job on leopards withing the Knoxville, Charlotte, Atlanta, or Columbia regions as they are all within a 3 hour drive. I have a full leopard hide that is back from the tannery along with several other trophies.
How expensive is it to ship a full body leopard mount if I chose a taxidermist in the Western US? I have no idea what the crate would weigh and how large it would be?
