SnavMike Fell
Just got a text message saying he had been hurt by a buffalo and had been airlifted to Nairobi. I can’t verify any of the details though.
Ride hard, shoot straight and speak the truth.

jdollarHe posts frequently on Facebook, as recently as 2 days ago with a lot of pictures from TZ hunts. Praying he is alright. So far this year he has taken 3 tuskers greater than 100lbs!

scruffyThat is bad news, indeed. I posted on the South American thread a few days ago about a Mexican hunter killed by a water buffalo in Argentina.
Sometimes, a man's luck turns. I hope that Mr. Fell gets better fast and completely.

bwanajayI just received a WhatsApp from Mike Fell and he said his surgery went well. The bulls horn missed his femoral by 3cm. He killed the bull while the bull was trying to kill him.

Thank God!
Good news on this front has lately been hard to find.
Best wishes to Mike for a quick and full recovery!

jdollarHe posted on FB an hour ago from the hospital in Nairobi. Doing well, had surgery, expects to be hospitalized till Sunday. The pictures of the wound and dead buff are interesting. As usual, the whole mess started with a poorly placed shot by a client and difficult follow up.

A hunter wounded a Leopard and it was thought the Leopard was dying. However, that was not the case and it ambushed the PH who never saw it coming. After quite a severe mauling the tracker spined it with an axe.

Trouble is that most animals haven’t read the text books, and even with a perfectly placed shot they can still live for a good length of time. I have seen on more than one occasion little Roe Deer shot through the heart and lungs appear totally uninjured and trot off only to fall over dead several moments later.
A grumpy animal would have had plenty of time to cover the 30 / 40 yards to the hunter and cause lots of damage.
27 October 2022, 15:24
SaeedA well hit animal will die very quickly.
My very own experience of hunting for 40 years.
Shot two lions and a leopard earlier this month.
The leopard was on bait, the lions not on bait.
All died very quickly with one shot each.
You flip your shot, you WILL have problems.

I am very sorry.
But I honestly find it impossible that anyone misses a leopard in a blind.

mbogobutchMike was damm lucky that is way to close to the femoral artery, best of luck on the rest of your recovery.

PAGuardianAfter looking at the wound photos...that's a damn close call! Glad to hear he's doing well thus far.

Surprisingly enough it does happen, just in that split second point of no return as the trigger is being squeezed.
However not following up on a wounded Leopard may lead to a Hyena jamboree and an expensive dinner gratuitously offered by the client.

AR MANI have it on good authority that Mike is as fearless as he is tough! One who “walks the walk”. Damn good to hear his tenacity is still in tact

Some of you might have heard that I got tossed and fired by a wounded buffalo two days ago. I am stabilized in the Agha Caan hospital in Nairobi by a great team of doctors.
Was a close shave and the horn missed my femoral artery by 3cms. Was delighted to find my Johnson still in tact and functional after I was tossed.
Attached are some pics below from the incident. Arusha Medi- vac was incredible. Preparation with a proper trauma kit was critical to my survival and please all stay prepared for this. The only thing lacking was proper pain killers and was very chungu getting to the vehicle out of the bush. Thank you to all that have reached out and overwhelmed by the love and support from the hunting community. Stay safe!

That tracker deserves a big bonus.

surefire7I am so happy to hear that Mike is OK and healing up quickly!
My friend and I hunted last Nov. with Andrew and the PH that he was writing about that got mauled by the Leopard. I am also very happy to hear he is healing up as well!
My friend and I hope to return to the mauled PHs hunting area in the Luangwa Valley next year to hunt Buffalo again. We hope he is well enough to hunt by that time. He is a great guy and we wish him the best!
