Buffalo in Arusha!
Woke up last morning with a call that a stray buffalo had crashed thorugh an electric fence of a friends property and ended up in the neighbours coffee.....This is literally a few hundred meters from the Arusha airstrip for those that have been there!

When i got to the estate, the buff's tracks led into a thick field of 8-10 foot maize. The three of us, armed with 2 x .470 (1 a 1897 Williams Evans thumb)and me with my .375 circled around the other side to see if the tracks led out of the maize. Nothing. The option of going in the maize after the buff was....not an option we considered. sofa

Borrowed the farms truck and the three of us with another dozen hands idled our way along a service road next to the maize. Just when we thought we had come to the end of the field, i saw it. As the truck jerked to a stop, the buff moved to where the maize was less thick and from a distance of about 25 yards, a .470 shot out and the buff was knocked down. Struggling for a few seconds, it got up amd took off through the maize before we could shoot again.

I followed the maize stems collapsing as the buff charged out of the field and into the coffee. Went after it and found it lying down facing away from us in between the coffee bushes. As I was the only one with a scoped rifle, i shot it up its arse and spined it. Walked up to it and finished it off with the william Evans mgun

Swarms of farm hands and villagers crowded around and hoisted the buff (a youngish cow)into the truck. I unloaded, packed the rifle into its case and drove to the office Cool a good way to start the day.....

Happy hunting!
