Just assuming that 2010 was not as good as some expected due to the global economy and judging by some of the specials that where seen late in the year.

I am not sure the 2011 economy is real rosy in its outlook.

What are your expectations.

I think DSC will be very telling.

Phoenixdawg, I am nearly sold out, and hoping for some more quota, if that answers your question.

phoenixdawg,

Increasing prices usually indicates to me the optimism of the safari operators and several of the people we represent have increased their prices. We have increased our offereings in Tanzania, Zambia and Zim for 2011 and all the prices are higher for 2011. Increased prices are painful but they also indicates the health of the business.

I think last years pricing was artificially deflated by the world economy. I heard that outfitters incurred trophy fee cost increases last year that they were unable to pass on.

The main reason prices are going up is because the value of the US dollar, & Euro are falling so badly. Last I heard the Rand to dollar ratio is 6.2 to one, but that was a few days ago. Probably worse now. And, as long as we keep printing money it will only get worse.

MMS,

You are correct about about what is driving the increases. The percentage increases is tracking very close to the percentage in currency exchange rates.

In 2010 the dollar had already dropped to 7.2 from 10.7 in 2009, but the trophy fees (at least where I hunted) had not changed and there were deals to be had. We are now seeing increases that we should have seen earlier.
