Safari-HuntAny chance he will not become a hunter ????
This is photos I just took of my son Aaron he turned 3 on the 12th this month. Anyway I took off this old compact scope and because it was so old I decided to give it to him to play with. First thing he asks me where's his gun as he wants it mounted on to his gun.
Well some proper masking tape later and it was mounted. Now tell me what is the chaces he will not become a hunter? Damn, he hasnt shot anything yet but I feel so proud already. It will probarbly a couple of years still but I cannot wait.

I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

DoglegMy son did the same thing, wanting an old scope taped to his toy gun. I still made him learn to shoot with irons though, starting when he was three. I'm sure the playing helped make scope use natural.

It is the metal string you usually find that attaches basin and bath plugs so no concern there.

TerryRGood to see a boy being brought up correctly. That scope will look even better in a few years on his BB gun.

Stephen PalosNo chance Frederik, but the downside is the sooner our kids become hunters, the sooner we are relegated to non-hunting companions-(ie, the old farts who sit arround camp demanding drinks and telling stories about the good 'ol days

)
Tell me how to insert pictures and I can tell you my tale....

Stephen PalosThanks Frederik
Here is my son Christopher on our 2006 hunt to Tom Burke"
Later that day he burnt his foot in hot ash and I thought the trip was over. He wouldn't hear of it though. I treated it with a burn shield, and he walked 8km with me next day. My "veldskoen" over his bandaged foot!
He did 5 walk & stalks of about 5 to 8km each from the Wedsday to the Friday. On Saterday I took off the bandage for the first time:
I guess he's earned his right to hunt....

Safari-HuntStephen,
Youre right if that is not going to stop your son from hunting nothing will. I suppose Mom wasnt too happy with his injury and hopefully she will not have anything against that going again.

SaeedIt si wonderful to start them young.
Now, to a very serious question.
When did you get Walter to install that scope for your son?
He installed one just like that on our 475/416 Rigby Improved.
Saying the scope stands a better chance of not being destroyed if it can have some "elasticity"!

Stephen PalosFrederik, as you can imagine it DID take some smart talking with Momma when we got back. Luckily Christopher puts up a great case himself, so I just had to stand there nodding!

Saeed, I think Walter has got something there...I'm sure another benefit is that the scope takes longer than the rifle to get back. With some practice you can get your eyebrow out of it's way before it arrives to half-moon you.

375 fanaticMy Daugter is 2 years old she is driving her mother nuts. she watches my hunting dvds on a daily basis and wants to shoot anything from the frogs to the cat. The first thing she asks when an animal is shot on a dvd is "Are they going to load it on the my bakkie"
it gives me great joy
