Hunt Recommendations
Hi All, I'm looking for recommendations for a hunt in southern Africa. I only do DIY hunting here in NZ and also a few DIY / hunt swaps in north America and this is the type of hunting I enjoy. Hunts that are challenging, and often end without a kill, is what I most happy doing.

I have been researching hunting Africa hunt not really happy to go on a standard safari. Realise I need a guide but is it possible to find a challenge hunt that is also 'authentic', fair chase and wont break the bank. I'm really looking for a true African experience. I'm fit and want to work for an animal. It’s the adventure I'm after so relaxed about the animal hunted. I only have about $US5000 budget too and would like to spend about 5 - 10 days hunting. I’ll be in Botswana for a family holiday and plan to travel a hunt destination.

In Summary, I’m looking for:
• A true African adventure.
• Anywhere in southern Africa – Kenya / Gabon south
• Dates – July
• Duration – 5 to 10 days
• Animal hunted – Just one (or two) is fine and relaxed about the species.

Any recommendations?

Thanks for the suggestion. Sounds like a good option, I’ll do some research. If any one has has done a trip like this recently or an outfitter they could recommend it would be great to hear from you.

Give it a couple days, I'll bet one or more of the outfitters who hang out here can put something together for you, maybe a young hotshot PH getting experience.

I might be worth asking this outfitter in Namibia if a hunt could be tailored to your preferences. He does some basic and backpack hunts. I haven't hunted with John, only met and spoken to him but I thought he was a good, no BS guy.
Namibia is a great place to hunt. I'm sure you would enjoy it.

I have a mate in Botswana who can probably help you out? Although the farms are now fenced much of the Kudu and Eland are free range. It is DG country and Elephant and Lion are frequent visitors.

If this is of interest then PM me and I will send you his details.

I’ve hunted with Peter and his Dad a couple of times and can thoroughly recommend them. Best value African hunts I’ve been fortunate to experience.
