Id like to add something. I see paranoia at the range, people buy rifles, shoot a box of ammo and then show up two weeks later with a new rifle. It happends all year round. None of these people shoot worth beans, and many are afraid all their rifles are gonna rust by next week, in the middle of the desert. Most of them are afraid to even handle their rifles, from a recoil stand point, to just plain working the bolt smoothly.
What am I seeing here?

cewe... First of all, you did the right thing in getting rid of that 444marlin, especialy if it was for one of the other rifles you mentioned in your battery

I would save my money for hunts, you have a fine battery. I guy can drive himself crazzy buying rifles, but saving for hunts and going on them can bring greater rewards IMO. Once a guy has a solid battery, wear it out, then worry about new rifles when that point is reached.

While the .333 Jeffrey would certainly have a unmistakable patina of nostalgia, the economics of reloading and shooting the beast would be . . . let us say "impressive". Equal panache can be had with the .318 WR and the components will be much less costly. Field performance will be so close that neither PH nor leopard could tell the difference.

I am basically running the reverse track, myself, having decided that there are too many guns in the safe and that some of them have simply got to go. While I have nothing but the deepest respect for the 9.3x62, the slot if fills between my .318 and my dearly beloved .375 is so narrow that as soon as I get the front sight replaced and sighted in, it goes. I agree that there is nothing that the quarter bores can to that the '06 doesn't do as well or better so the Mannlicher goes. With a good '06, a .318 and a .375, of what use is a .300 H&H? The M70 has to go. Even the .450 Rigby is redundant when one has a fine .404. This is just traumatic but the money will pay for more hunting and that is, after all, the point of it all anyway.

Depending on the level of nostalgia you feel, possibily a 318 WR or 333 Jeffery or the more practical approach would be a 338 Win Mag.

Yes, you have a huge gab there, I also have the same gap interestingly enough, although I have a 264, some 270's and a 7mm in between, but still nothing in the 25 or 243 area. So here are some that you could use.

A 243, great all around cartridge
a 25cal, everybody needs one, 257roberts AI, 25 winters etc.
6.5x55, cause it is supposed to be wonderful
You need a 35 cal, I recommend a whelen AI with 26" barrel, but if you want something a bit fun get a smaller rifle made with the 350 rem. mag.
you have a good spot there for a 338 win mag as well, don't ever forget that one. :-)

Somthing between the 22WM and the 30-06 as that is where the biggest gap occurs. Something for roebuck? How about a nice 6mm Remington or 257 Roberts. A K-95 Blaser Single-shot in 6mm Remington would be sweet.

I never thought the day would come when I ran out of ideas for a new gun -but here I am. The thing is that the guns I now own are all nice, the calibers will take care of most any type of hunting I can imagine but I still have an itch for something new. Discussed this with boha and he said something about a .350 Rigby Magnum...
I have the following: .22 WM, .30-06, 8.2x53R, .375 H&H and a .416 Rigby.
I�ve owned plenty of other guns that have been traded or sold, most recently a Winchester lever action in .444 Marlin.
If anybody has any good ideas I�m looking forward to them, otherwise I�ll just have to concentrate my funds on hunting.

I go with PC on this one. You definitley need a 458 Lott or a 505 Gibbs, absolutley cant get by with out one. HaHA.
Also you need a 222 or a 22 or 6mm PPC in a magazine rifle.

Take up some other kind of shooting. It's cold here in New England so we have indoor matches for rifle, pistol and juniors. We shoot every Thursday night at 50 ft. The matches start around 7 pm and end when everyone is done. A club travels to our range and the next week we travel to theirs.

The must be matches like this in Finland? Get yourself a .22 target rifle and enjoy yourself. This is the best practice of all. Once you master the .22 the other guns are easy. And when you "loose your trigger finger" you go back to the .22 and find it again.

Cewe, I'd have to second the idea of the 350 Rigby Magnum to go with your 416. Great round, low pressure, shoots a 225 gr. @ 2600 fps with ease. John Taylor loved the round. I recently bought an original Rigby Mauser in 350 and it is a great round, almost as good as the 338 Win Mag. Just ask your 416 what it wants.

Do not get a 243... you might fall asleep shooting it!! Get a 250 savage in its place.

A light wt. 6.5x55 or 7x64 (or .260rem & .280).
