Congrats on Maktoum who finally got his buffalo with a bow!!

Congratulations to Maktoum on taking that old buffalo with his bow! That’s a trophy truly well earned.

Looks like a pretty fantastic safari yet again.

This morning we found a female reedbuck.

We knew they must be a male around.

After looking for ages, we found him lying in the grass.

No way for a shot.

We waited, and waited, then tried making some noises.

He looked towards us, and bolted!

Went off looking for buffalo.

Found fresh tracks of two bulls and followed them for about 4 kileometers, taking almost 2 hours, as the going was quite hard.

They went through some very thick bush, grass and several corongos.

Found them lying down.

Again, too much in the way for a shot.

The wind changed, and off they went.
We carried on.

Found a herd of sable, with a very good bull in it.

Stood in the sun for ages, trying to get a shot at the bull.

First he was lying down, in a very difficult place because of logs and branches, and cows behind him.

Eventually he stood up, facing us through a small gap.

I fired at him and he dropped.

The AR NO MISS bullets performance has been exceptional.

We loaded him and headed to camp.

Saw two old dugga boys running.

We ran after them, saw them standing, and as soon as they saw us they took off, I fired a shot at one running away.

We ran after them, not far we saw they have gone into a very thick clump of palm trees.

Horrible place to follow a woulded buffalo.

We made a detour to the side, and there he was lying down facing us.

I fired at his head and he dropped.

The other was standing about 5 yards to the side, and did not move.

I could see only his head facing us.

Another shot to the head and he was down.

Took us 5 hours to cut them up and loaded.

One of the buffalo I shot yesterday had a hole right in the middle of his boss.

No idea how he got it.

It is in vected and smells bad.

If you look at the photos you will see where they were both shot.

The one with the hole in his head was the first one shot, in his rear leg as hw was running away.

He is the one lying on the right.

The second was about 5 meters to his left, again, totally invisible except his his.

Both were about 15 yards when shot.

There is a waterfall quite far from here in our concession.

We are planning to go there today as it is a very scenic area.

Well done my friend! You post so many pics so rapidly…it is hard to stay up.

You have certainly had a good and memorable safari. I am happy for you!

Outstanding as usual! One of those bulls in the first herd has a broken left horn and a decent right horn. Were you able to track and shoot him?

We do not use the drones when we are hunting, or to search for animals.

We only use them after a hunt, or when we see anything that we are not interested in hunting.

Roy got a kongoni yesterday, and I shot a zebra.

Fantastic,Saeed! Two questions….

What do you think of the new country they were able to open up since last year?

Have you guys used the game caller at all? I’m interested in what Alan has called in with it.

Awesome photos again, Saeed.

Question#1. Has the bullet travelled through the entire body of the buffalo which you shot in the head? Unbelievable penetration.

Question#2 What is this black meat in this photo?

Thank you and please keep the photos coming.

Team B went to the waterfall yesterday.

We roamed about looking for lone dugga boys and ended up shooting a kongoni.

have not covered all new areas opened, too big and we seem to end up shooting something and head back.

We have not had time to use the caller.

We wanted to use it by the camo and call hyenas for photos.

The buffalo hit in the backside was running away.

Bullet was in the chest.

He ran about 100-150 yards and laid down in a very bad thicket.

Got to him and shoit him in the head.

His partner was standing in the same thicket 5 yards apart.

Another shot in the head put an end to them both.

These are the two you see in the photos together.

We saw an old dugga boy running in a very high grass.

We went after him, and managed to get a shot at him standing facing away.

Up the rear end again.

He took off, and dropped about 50 yards further in a thicket.

Bullet went all the way through, hit his heart, lungs and lodged int front of the chest cavity.

While trying to recover our bullet, we found a muzzle loader bullet in him.

In one of the pictures of the buffalo shoulders, you can see a white wound, that is where he was hit with this muzzle loader.

The bullet penetrated the skin, and part of the ribs, and was lodged against the inside skin that ceperates the lungs.

I was asked what the black meat was earlier.

It is partially cooked meat the trackers carry with them to make lunch of.

They have a never changing recipe.

Ginger
Garlic
Onions
Tomato paste
Oil
Salt

Beats anything a 5 Star hotel in Paris or New York offers.

Your no miss bullets do their magic every time, Saeed. Phenomenal penetrations.

That dish looks delicious.

The area looks rather dry from the areal photographs but at the ground level there are so many lovely little streams.

We are back home in Dubai.

Roy and Rene should be home in the US soon.

We all had an absolutely fantastic safari.

The usual crowd, with nothing taken seriously, just enjoying ourselves, even at others expense!

The camp crew have become part of our extended family of jokers.

Throughout the years, I have hidden the truck key from Lema our driver.

This year he out did me.

He hid the keys himself!

And could not remember where he put them!

As you can imagine, he became the laughing stock for everyone.

They look forward to seeing us every year as much as we do.

I have lots more photos from everyone, and will continue to post them.

Glad that you all enjoy this safari with us.

I was trying topost as many pictures as I could while in camp, and not paying attention to any questions, due to lack of time.

This is the second year we hunt Mlele.

Next year we are back in the Selous.

Mlele is a fantastic area for buffalo and sable.

We saw sable every day, sometimes they seem to be around every corner.

But, the variety of animals in the Selous is not found in Mlele.

Great for buffalo, as there are so many old bulls around.

The bush is very thick, which does make hunting a bit of a challenge.

But it is very bad for pictures and video.

One has to pick a small gap in the bush to shoot through, looking through the scope.

The camera finds it very hard to distinguish much.

Saw some sable late one morning.

Managed to get to about 100 yards from them.

It was a herd with an old bull we wanted to shoot.

He was lying down, with several cows behind him.

All we could see were his horns.

We waited.

And waited.

He got up.

Only visible part of him was his rear legs.

The rest is hidden by trees.

He decided to ly down again.

We waited.

And waited, standing in the sun at midday.

Eventually he stood up.

Alan was telling me he was looking at us.

Looking through my scope, I could see part of his face, nothing else.

Alan suggested I try a shot below his chin, as his chest is there.

I took his advice, and fired.

The sable dropped.

Here is another one.

Followed two old bulls for quite sometimes.

Saw one lying under a tree about 80 yards away.

All we could see was his horns.

We tried maneuvering around to get a better view.

Saw the other one, facing us, again only the horns are visible.

The wind changed, and off they went.

Never to be seen again.

Saw two other bulls after driving around.

Again, they took off, and we went running after them.

They stopped to look back.

Alan puts the shooting sticks u, saying they might pass in a gap in the bush.

One did before I was on the sticks.

The other took off and all I got was his backside.

I fired at him, and we ran chasing them.

They went into a palm tree thicket, where one can hardly see further than he could reach.

We decided to go around that thick.

A few yards away we see one lying down looking at us.

I fired at his head and he dropped.

The second was standing 5 yards to his side, again nothing to be seen is part of his head.

Another shot and he was down.

Head shots work perfectly on buffalo, shot several this year that way.

One has to be relatively close.

I just want everyone to know that most of these photos are taken by other members of our party.

Special mention goes to both Maktoum and Gary.

I also have loads of pictures taken by our trackers, game scouts and drivers.

How many of each species were bagged this year?

Are you going to put out the memory sticks this year?

Glad you all had a great time and got home safe.

In its heyday Madaba was an Elephant haven in particular and there was no shortage of Buffalo which are your main ingredient.

Am not sure how the Elephant populations fared during the poaching era in MA1 but am pleased to say that we have have noticed a marked improvement in Elephant numbers in the block adjacent to MA1 which shares the same ecosystem.
