I have built this rifle 27 years ago, and it has been coming with me every year.
A perfect match for our NO MISS BULLETS!
Rather cold in thge mornings and evenings.
Lions were calling all night, and hyenas are keeping us awake.
So far very few tse tse flies.

Last year, like many years before, we missed out on lions.

This year we had the easiest 2 lions ever.

We went to the bait, found that it had been eaten.

A few yards away, this big male was lying in the bush.

We had to do a bit of maneuvering to be able to get a clear shot.

We kept getting closer and closer, moving in a sort of semi circle.

Got to about 45 yards, where there was a clearing, and he stood up to go.

A 300 grain NO MISS Walterhog bullet went after him.

He ran 15 yards.

KABOOBI KABOOBI again.

As those who have had this celebration know, one gets wrapped in toilet paper, small branches, gets carried on the crews back while dancing.

The celebrations only end when I almost fell off the back of my carrier!

Very happy camp.

Walter is doing one of his famous BBQs tonight.

Another installment of great photos, Saeed. Those drone photos take it to a different level.

2 lions! Fantastic, congratulations. I get a kick out of the guys taking pictures with the cameras you give them, they really get into it.

Did Lema really fly your drone? He’s a great driver but I never thought of him as a pilot.

Wow. Good stuff.

Have you been able to weigh the lions?

Lema and me are old friends.
Sadly, he does not trust me!
Very sad situation really.

When I walk into the staff camp, he shouts very loadly at everyone SAEEDIE! To warn others.
Yesterday was no difference.
But a few minites later, he calmed down, and started laughing so much he was crying.

Him and Robert and Neuni, our trackers, and Kusaima, our game scout, where standing behind me as I did a card trick.

These could see what I was doing.

The whole lot of others were in front.

They were totally mismerised, could not understand how the hell I could feel the printing on the cards.

Some were rubbing their fingers on the wooden bench, some tried rubbing their fingers on their trousers, and Lema was finding it very hard drying his eye!

I did teach him to fly the drone, he is becoming an expert at it.

Maktoum is still trying his luck with a bow for buffalo, no luck so far.

We have no facility to weigh the lions.

But their measurements were 112 and 111 inches.

Our NO MISS bullets performance on the lions were like this.

One hit at the point of the shoulder, bullet stopped just under the skin a few inches before the tail.

One hit at the junction of the neck and shoulder, bullet stopped in the oppiste hind leg.

Had a great duiker BBQ last night.

Hi Saeed,
Congrats on two Lions and on the reliable performance of the NO MISS bullets.
I see the boys are making plenty of biltong, presumably from Buff meat. Do they do anything with Lion meat, or if not, what becomes of the Lion meat ?
Thanks too for the great pics as always. Yep, that Barbeque meat looks beautiful. Wish I was there for dinner tu2 .
Cheers

With all due respect to two great lions and some very fine old bulls, lets not ignore that very nice little duiker which I find just as challenging to hunt as the bigger stuff. (Except that they don't often bite you back)

Ali, our head skinner, did not sleep last night.

He told me this morning that I was responssible for this, as I shot the lion, and the rest of his pride came over last night and occupied the skinning shead, close to where he slept!

He put up a scare crow to keep them out!

This morning I shot a bushbuck. Great for a BBQ.

Later on I shot a bushpig.

Went looking for others, found buffalo tracks but they were going down wind.

Decided to head back to camp for lunch.

The lion meat seem to have been cut up. I assume to be eaten.

Looks great actually.

Talking of duikers, the duiker ran further than a lion after being shot!

And we have discovered a a great safety measure when hunting lion.

One has to make sure he shoots further than the lion can run after being shot.

One was shot at 80 yards, and he ran 70 yards.

We were safe.

The other was shot at 45 yards, he ran 15 yards.

These facts have to be take into consideration by the hunter, and where he places his bullets.

Excellent safari so far! What dreams are made of. Congratulations!
I thought you could only shoot 1 lion per year per area. How much quota of lion do you get in mlele?
This must be the best Lion safari done in ages. You could top it with a big elephant a d leopard and do an old days safari! Way to go Saeed. Enjoy

Mighty fine hunt it looks like.
I'm surprised at not seeing more animals in all that country shown from the drone.

Is giraffe on the ticket?

How old do you figure that biggest lion was?

Rene sure sets up a fine looking dining room. Am sure she has help with it.

How far is the "local airport?"

I've wondered how many there are in the crew.
Looks like a big camp. Great views too.

Sorry for all the questions.

Thank you for sharing your hunt and camp with us.

Fabulous hunting grounds, Saeed.

I think you have found an African hunter’s paradise.

Congrats on your successes so far.

Two lions on one safari is unheard of these days.

Epic!

The staff at the camp look happy and seem like they are having a lot of fun.

The area looks a bit drier than the last year. I remember seeing so many little streams flowing under the tree canopies.

Great report with some wonderful pictures like normal. Great that you were able to get 2 lions. The question was asked about Giraffe hunting. Off limits in Tanzania. State animal I believe. In my one trip there we saw a lot of them..... Congrats!

Maktoum shot a kongoni and a diker yesterday.

Today they had a bit of fun with three bulls in a swamp.

They managed to get to 60 yards, and the wind changed.

We followed buffalo and found them at 10:30.

They were lying under seperate trees, and we managed to get to around 100 yards from them.

They were spread all over the place.

We stayed in the open sun until around 2:30, when I got a chance at a bull.

We normally have sandwiches at 11.

Today we missed that, and missed our lunch as well.

All we wanted to do is cut up our bull and head to camp.

Took us 3 hours, as we wanted to check some leopard baits.

Our camp staff are very happy. We have known them for many years, and the look forward to us coming as much we look forward to coming here.

Giraffe are not allowed to be shot.

The airport we fly into is in the bush, and takes two hours to get to.

We are waiting for Maktoum and his crew to have dinner.

Buffalo pepper steak is on the menu.

Roy started hunting today.

Spent all morning chasing buffalo in very very thivk bush, and managed nothing.

Saw a young bull that did not look very healthy.

Late in the after noon Roy shot a zebra.

Back in camp, and Walter is busy roasting kongoni for dinner.

This is the thirs time I have shot 2 lions on one safari.

Once in Zimbabwe I shot two the same day.

Someone just mentioned that Maktoum has shot a zebra today too.

What a safari Saeed.

It doesn't seem like you are seeing the herds of buffalo out in the open like last year? Could that be because there are more lions this year?

You are on such a roll you should drive the park boundary and look for a 75 pounder to walk out!

Thanks as always for sharing your adventures.

While most people would consider the use of a drone as an actual aid to hunting, rather than a useful tool for photography, not sporting, or "not quite the done thing", how many of us would ignore the hypothetical 75 pound bull if he appeared on the drone's pictures just over the horizon?
I would like to think I wouldn't go and have a look but in truth I know that I would!

I only fly the drone when we shoot something, while the trackers are gutting it and cutting it to load I the truck.

I have never, seen any animals by drone before seeing them on the ground.

In fact, it extremely difficult to see animals from the air because of the bush.

We see evidence of elephants destroying trees, which we have to clear of roads every day.

So far we have not seen a single elephant??!
