MikeBurke.22 Blank Cartridges in Zimbabwe
Does anybody know if it is legal to bring .22 blanks in to Zimbabwe?
With all of the anti-hunting sentiment I felt after tracking an elephant or buffalo it would be better to shoot it with a blank.........just kidding.
Seriously I have a friend (not involved in the hunting business) that needs blanks in Harare.
I looked on the TSA site and could not find anything about blanks and assumed they would be treated the same as loaded ammo, just not sure about the officials in Zimbabwe.

Nah Man, you need to have the qualifications of a rocket scientist to do that.
I absolutely refuse to fly with any ammunition that is not for my own rifles.
I have done it many times in the past, and there was no problems at all.
But not in today’s climate.
The Zimbabwe Firearms Act stipulates that no person may hold ammunition of a calibre for which he does not possess a valid firearms certificate (license). I have just read through the Act, which is unclear as to whether blanks constitute "ammunition". Assume that they do.
If your friend has any licensed .22s, then there shouldn't be a problem. Your PH certainly would, so probably no big deal.

cal pappasRegardless what the rules and laws state, it comes down to the attitude of whomever examines your rifle and ammo. In the 1990s I would bring bricks of .22s to friends there. Absolutely no more--it's not worth it if things go sour.
