Johannesburg - Seven young men were arrested in Kwanobuhle after being found in possession of the body of a one-year-old kudu, Uitenhage police said on Monday.
Lieutenant Colonel Priscilla Naidu said police were doing routine patrols on Friday when they noticed the men carrying suspicious-looking bags.
After stopping and searching the men, they found a kudu that had recently been killed as well as pangas and other home-made implements used for slaughtering.
Naidoo said the young kudu may have been killed in Wincanton Estates near Port Elizabeth.
The men, aged between 16 and 21, were charged with being in possession of kudu meat without a valid permit.
They will appear in court on Tuesday.

Tom In TennesseeIf only they had of followed the Voor Trekkers and gotten the meat to Zim, they cud have been rich!
This is happening all the time in our area. The poachers usually use about 20-30 dogs and cover large tracts of land killing any animal they can find. They set snares and cut farm fences and chase larger animals into their traps. I once witnessed 5 Nyala females caught in snares all near to each other and were left to rot by the poachers. Sad.

That would be "profiling" here in the states and the arrest ruled invalid!

I'm about as far from bleeding heart as you can get. But having seen the poverty and desperation in and around the settlers camps first hand, I can't help but wonder if maybe this wasn't an act of survival and subsistence for themselves and their families. If so one could certainly make an argument for tolerance. Not enough facts to make a judgement here.
