MARK H. YOUNGNew #9
I couldn't post a picture of the big buffalo I spoke of yet so I thought I'd show you a picture of one of the smalllest trophies from Tanzania.
I shot this guy in '03 and just now was able to get it mounted lifesize and scored. I figured it was big from everybody's reaction when I shot it but I had no idea it actually would make "Top 10" with a score of 11 6/16.

sierrabravo45Mark,
I'm not that good with the small duiker like animals.
"What is It??"
Mink and Wall Tents don't go together. Especially when you are sleeping in the Wall Tent.

MARK H. YOUNGI'm sorry! No reason you would know. It is a Kirk Dik-Dik. They are pretty common in the dry river beds of Masailand but getting one to stand still long enough for a shot is a trick.

RobertJrMark,
Dik-Diks never stand still!! Did this one trip and daze itself to give you the time for a shot??
Great Trophy and the "little ones" make great full size mounts and are sometimes harder to get than DG.
What a monster for the species and record book.

MARK H. YOUNGRobert,
We actually hunted on foot up a river bed and caught this one and a female unawares. Next to the lesser kudu this one gave me the most trouble in Tanzania. A big buffalo is a slam dunk compared to these guys.
Next year I'll be trying for suni and red duiker. That should be an exercise in frustration.

Ditto,
Those silly little millimeters really matter with a Kirk's dik dik.

MARK H. YOUNGAaron,
I agree. You can get 50-60 yards from them with a little effort. I thought later that a full choke and #4 might be perfect. Certainly easier than a 375 with a solid.
