I went through my SAFARI mags, and on page 71 of the may/june 2002 issue you will see the video I bought and who I bought it from...Outdoor Visions.

I posted separately, but finally found this thread again. I recieved the copy I ordered from videoscreams. It is actually of pretty good quality, considering the age of the film. It is a complete copy, credits, title and all. It looks like I ordered it on Feb 11 and recieved it today (2/28). The price at $14 is attractive. You can order at www.videoscreams.com. Actually, with the sale they are having, you can get this video and a second one on the same DVD for one price.

The DVD that Videoscreams is selling is a copy of the 'bootlegged' version of the movie. It's in B&W and has the missing frames where SCSportsman told me it would.

OTOH, if you just want to see the movie, this is a pretty sure bet. And I believe the movie itself is well worth watching.

I'd still like to come up with an 'original', though.

I received a copy yesterday. I comes with a strange disclaimer on the disc. However, great fun to see this after having read "Use Enough Gun".

The disclaimer, I believe, is key to how they are running their business. When you order online, you have to check off a form that you are having them make an archival copy for you. They state they are not selling you a commercial copy, and that they run the business as a service to collectors and movie historians.

I honestly doubt this would fly in court, but it is some level of deniability. They have literally thousands of old movies available, many of which I have not seen anywhere else. There are no major motion pictures here, but a lot of interesting stuff, such as the Ruark film. My guess is that they are flying under the radar because these are such minor films, no one really cares.

Point is, probably fifty people in this thread expressed a burning desire to own a copy of this film. It is an important piece of African hunting heritage and is on the verge of being lost. Here is a source of a reasonably clean recording with credits etc for $14. I hope a number of people do purchase these so that there are some backups around.
