Dagga BoyLion hunt video
The Hunting Report has posted a video of subscriber Tommy Salmon's lion hunt with Chifuti Safaris. Here's the link:
http://www.huntingreport.com/v...lts.cfm?species=LionIt's well done and a big lion. Maybe not the biggest mane, but he's an old warrior. Congratulations Tommy.

Dagga BoyGlad you liked it, Aaron. You can now upload your video to the HR website. You don't have to mail in a DVD like before.
So if you'd like to share some of your footage....

surestrikeI know about as much about lion hunting as I do about brain surgery. But that looked like a war torn ancient old male to me. And it also looked like a wonderful hunting experience. One of these days I hope to do the same...

zzzFirst, Nice lion, taken in a good hunt. Congrats.
THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD SITUATION GONE BAD.
It may have been obvious there was a good shot on him, but as we know, there have been several Zim PH's hammered by lions.
I have been on a few night time recon missions looking for lion and leopard in the bush, and I felt unease on this one. The boys were a bit underlit and undergunned. If that lion was alive in that thick bush, I would have wanted a couple million candlepower torches and some headlamps in use. The client who was apparently second gun had no torch at all.
WAIT A MINUTE.
After watching this video again I am wondering more about this follow up.
It seems the torchless client was backup.
The team seemed to be a quite spread out with inadequate lighting.
At 5:40 and 6:04 the clients wife seems to be tagging along in the background for the fun of it.
The camera guy was often in a position to get hammered.
I don't usually open my mouth on this stuff, but these are my observations. Let me know if I am mistaken. Maybe someone will avoid a bad situation by reading this.

Wildlife GalleryQuite possible the PH heard the death moan. I'm not experienced at all with this, but the PH has a great reputation and I'm sure if he had any doubt about the cat being expired he would not have had tag alongs. Video is so one dimensional that it's always tough to come to conclusions by just watching them. It is very possible they already did the retrieval of the cat before "shooting video" of the retrieval. Like I said, I don't proclaim to have the experience here, these were just my initial thoughts when I watched it. None the less, it was a great hunt captured on video.... DAN

+1
Taking everyone into the bush at night on a lion follow up isn't very likely!!
