BwanamichTANZANIA GOV TROPHY FEES GONE UP
The Game department has officially announced that Gov trophy fees have been increased by 20% to 25% (depending on species). Those of you booked to hunt Tz in 2005 better check with your outfitters/agents and see how this is going to affect your costs.
Happy hunting!

Michael RobinsonThey will still be the lowest DG trophy fees on earth.
At an increase of 25% in the government fees (which are not necessarily the same as those charged by the outfitter), here's how it will break down:
Elephant will go from US$4,000 to US$5,000;
Lion and leopard will go from US$2,000 to US$2,500;
Three, count 'em, three buff will go from US$2,130 to US$2,662.50.
Hippo will go from US$810 to US$1,012.50.
In Tanzania, it's not the trophy fees that are expensive--it's EVERYTHING else.

AtkinsonThe reason everything else is expensive is mostly the cost of fuel and the remotness of Tanzania...The logistics or setting up a hunting operation in Tanzania is unbelievable, just the building of a camp and then tearing it down including all cement foundations is in itself a job...then the air strip and feeding a crew of 20 all the time you doing all this, not counting the hunters, proper food in and game out, its a life I would not pick...Zimbabwe is a pushover by comparison and RSA is a walk in the park!
