2008 Namibian kudu

As I did last year, I decided to post a few pics of kudu that was hunted with Ndumo Safaris this past season in Namibia. Unfortunately, the biggest one was shot shortly after my camera was stolen, but I will try and get a photo. Here goes:

Blair, they range from about 48 to 58 inches, and were mostly shot with standard calibers. (.308Win, .30-06, .300 Win Mag, even a .375 H&H in the case of Bmartins favpourite kudu.)

I quite agree that No. 3 is a good example of a true trophy kudu. But so is No. 7 !

Karl, please keep your word and post the "biggest" - that must be really some kudu!

Andrew, no.7 is my favourite. The hunter was a long standing client of mine, but his focus of this hunt was a leopard, a huge kudu and a klipspringer. I am proud to say, he got all of them, and then some...

Good on you Karl for looking after your client in such a good way!

# 7 was my pick as well, but I also like #9 as he is relatively tall and narrow, which is an atypical shape.

Damn good kudu Karl for a year when the rabies killed of a lot of good old bulls, evidently.

Im pretty sure we will be able to set you up on a nice bull. As you can see, we try and shoot only mature bulls, which I beleive is vital in keeping a healthy population. You see a lot of immature kudu bulls (some with very long horns) being shot and photos posted, but I believ they are next year's or the year after that's trophies.
Look at this bull, we could have shot him, but I thought his points are not exactly right/ long enough, so we let him be. He will be very good next year though...

Hi Karl
Glad to see the Rabies and drought did not affect the areas you hunt too much.
How did you do in Damaraland this year?
We have one camp near Kamanjab and one close to Kalkfeld. The Kamanjab area was good to us this season but Kalkfeld was not so good, lost about 70% of our Kudus there.

Here is couple from our side, range is also from 48" to 57"

Hi Johan

The drought and rabies are taking effect as we speak, but we always find good kudu, as you know, you just have to work harder. I am also lucky to have 2 very good kudu areas in the south of Namibia, and though it is dryer there, at least they have been spared the rabies outbreaks.

Here is the one bull we shot while I did not have a camera (he was about 56.5 inches if I remember corrcetly.) Hope to get the other one soon.

Thanks for the great pics Karl. In my mind there ain't no such thing as a bad or an ugly kudu! They're incredibe animals and wonderful to hunt.
