If you are talking about the gold plated ones 2 posts above yours, the bloke who owned them could of walked into H&H and bought their entire stock with his loose change

Mike378PS,
The second page of the thread also shows what a Crown Custom looks like with the inlays removed.

A mate of mine reckons if you did a Crown Custom with Special Select Claro and gold plated in 375 H&H then H&H would take legal action

jeffeossomike asked me to post the pics
the snow camo one would be neat as a 550 magnum
jeffe
I feel the desret camo guns are there best looking rigs....they very "tough"
11 June 2005, 09:50
Mike378Jeffe,
Thanks for doing those.
PC,
I can feel pairing and Wby disease developing down your way.

If you want go el cheapo you can buy the stock from Wby for $450, get the 460 one, A 30/378 Synthetic and a 550 barrel and you are on your way. Import a few jacketed bullets from the bloke in Canada and shoot 700 grain flat nose cast.
With the 378 based Wbys they a in line feed so that is all simple and reliable.
If you go to
http://www.gunsamerica.com there is plenty of cheap 30/378s that have fired 9 shots

NitroX"Faint of heart"? More like "stong of stomach".
I like the lovely ladies dress sense however. Defies gravity.
If I was to meet someone carrying any of the above guns then I´d have to quote Larsson the cartoonist:
"Do not toucheth him for God has rendered this man without taste"
Amen

Mike378Cewe,
One of the attractions for us Wby fans is that so many people dislike them.

An interesting thing about rifle appearance is that the non shooter will virtually pick the Wby everytime. I use to be i=very involved with bench rest guns chambered in calibres like 6mm/06 and 270. In Australia we have an alloy stock that was based on the old Rem 40 X stock and the stock is a skeleton except for the action area. I had 4 of them in different colours and they sort of have a space gun look about them. Non shooters thought they were the top looking rifles. In fact at the time I had a custom Model 70 that was stocked by a bloke NitroX will know, Ross Waghorn, and the non shooters thought it looked like a heap of shit compared to the "space guns"

Mike
11 June 2005, 15:03
Nevsterah i see, that would explain it.
11 June 2005, 16:04
Mike378Craig,
Up until about the mid 70s or so Weatherby use to put out the Weatherby Guide. They are collecors items now. They were like a big catalogue with heaps of pictures of game animals and of course a lot of pictures of tarted up Wbys and trophy rooms of the like you could not imagine.
But the most interesting thing is how they illustrate how much the shooting the world has changed.
They were chock full of celebrities and actors with their Wbys and trophies etc. and also politicians. One of Wbys full page adds use to have John Wayne with the rifle. How things have changed. You would never see that today.
Although Preident Bush 1 was presented with the first Weaterby when they started remaking them back in the US. I think the serial number is GHB001

fritz454Just proves that money and taste are two distinct things. PUKE
Mike378: That has to be one of the ugliest guns in existence. Blue? Why?
12 June 2005, 13:45
Mike378Probably matched the teams colours. It is wood, not pastic.
Mike
Blue wood? Man that is a very fugly gun!
